To our dear, and, one of our most loved Az Cue Collector, Mr. Will Prout. :)
A simple Crown Cap for a very Serious Collector.
Thank you for letting me make a Cue Cap Set for your TAD Cue.
I was wondering if there is a name for this TAD Design.

Guys, that clover at the top was not as easy as it looks.
I could not take deep cuts with fast feed rates, as, I can not afford/risk the chance
of breaking off those Clovers.
There's no drag and drop, or, copy and paste options.
I do not use "Vectors".
I do everything from scratch with a Mouse and Turbo CAD ( 89 dollars).

Thank you Will.
Thanks for viewing guys..

Alton :)

Great joint cap for a fabulous cue. Another fantastic job. These caps you produce are obviously a labor of love!

Hello Cue4me, :)
Thanks for saying that.
Will has a collection that shows the many designs/art works of the Late, Great Tad Kohara.
Yes, I do put in a lot of myself into each Cue Cap I make.
It's amazing that there is so much to do just to complete a Cue Cap. :)

Will, Guys..
I'm so sorry. I did not see my erroe in typing Will's last name in the Post Title.
I missed the "r" in PROUT.
No disrespect to you Will.

I did ask Mike ( Az Moderator) tom help me correct the spelling.
He's so busy with the new Forum format.
Sorry/thanks Mike.. :)

Thanks for viewing.

Another one you hit a home run with, Alton! Always such a pleasure to see.
Will's collection is a Tad Who's Who, isn't it. (...and some others as well...) I'm just glad we're given a peek:-)

Hello Az Guys..
Hi Chris,
Thanks for saying that.
Will and the other TAD Collectors do show the world the many artful works
of the Late, Great Tad Kohara.
We're all thankful.. Thanks Will.. :)

Since I'm here...
I was curious to see if a thin 8 Sitch Maple Ring would help separate / fill
the void between the Black Joint Ring Collar and Ebony Body.

I also tried a new , more stretched out Oval/Diamond.
I used 4 Points to keep consistent with that 8 Slotted Ring..

I should have made the Points a bit thicker.
Live and Learn...

Thanks for viewing...
Alton :)

Hi All,
When I received the 3-piece cap set from Alton Takata a day or two ago, I was excited to place the caps on the Tad cue.
Simply amazing! The cue caps are a wonderful capstone to the cue.

I have acquired well over a dozen custom cap sets from Alton in the past 15+ years, and I swear every single new cap he develops is an elegant triumph, taking cues made by Hall of Famers to next level.

For Alton to make another entire joint cap (as seen in the picture Alton posted above) reinforces his dedication to excellence. Curious about the number of points, interested in improving upon the ring area, he took extensive time to make another entire cap! I did not know. Wow! And both are amazing, the cap design is perfect with the complex design of the Tad cue.

I consider it an honor to have Alton as a friend, because of his gentle nature and concern for others.
His achievements as a maker of custom cue caps is unparalleled. Benchmark. World class.
He has made several custom caps for my unique Ginacues, Szamboti, Josswest, Scruggs cues and others.

If someone is considering having cue caps made for their special cue, I give my highest recommendation,
just contact him and get the custom set in motion. You will be glad you did.

Will Prout

A few other Alton Takata cue caps......all for Tad cues

Hello Az Guys, :)
Ralf, those girls look "HOT" ... How come you got a jacket on?
樂

:)
Chris, Thanks for the assurance. :)
Thanks for saying that Will. :)
When I first met Will, I was trying to get out of Cue Caps.
Will contacted me twice, as, he saw something in my Cue Caps.
It was his inquiring that made me continue. :)

I was starting to venture into more shapes and how to use the basic machine functions and simple shapes to make more complicated Designs, since I did not have a Pantograph or CNC Machine/knowledge.

It was Will's TAD Cues that had many design elements that I saw and tried to duplicate on my Cue Caps.
LIke that TAD Scalloped Oval. My first attempt on Will's first Scalloped Cue was made with Round ( Dots) Inlays. Primitive.....
Imitating TAD Kohara Old School designs was a great learning experience for me.
Trying to incorporate all TAD's elements with a Mini Lathe, Mini Mill and a Band Saw.
When I look back at these times in my "Dark Ages", I often wonder, how did I do all that work?
As, now, I got a Mini CNC Mill.
Now, everything that the CNC Mill and the software I got, I am only limited to my conceptualizing/ imagination and physical limitations ( Brain functions and cutting tools/end mill diameters )

I was going to try a Six Point again, but, the Maple Stitch Ring has to be a 6 slot or 12 slotted Ring.
If I do the 12 Slot, the dashes become shorter, and, the slot's thickness comes into play with the overall looks. And, a Six Point with the newly elongated Ovals might not fit into a 6 Point indexing.
5 Points might be a better choice.
And, I would have to make a 5 or 10 slot slotted Ring.
There is so much to consider...

Since I'm here..
Here's a old Cap photo I found..
Joe Rogan's Ebony Southwest Cue Cap Set.
Joe has a Cognoscenti now.

Thanks Will, Thanks for viewing Guys..
Alton :)
