lots of great cue makers have been talked about in here, but i have not seen Tad's name come up. i play with a '82 tad that is the best hitting cue i own. what is the general opinion of Tad's cues. i am just wondering

From what i know of cuemakers and cues values that Tad's are very expensive. I have not heard of their playability but assume that they would have to be top notch as well. A friend of mine had two of them and sold them for $5000.

Tad is like a god. His cues are fantastic. Who else can sell a plain stick with zero inlays for $1500 and not keep up with the demand? His inlay work is perfection in itself. His cues are flat gorgeous and command the highest prices.

Never, under any circumstances, sell a Tad.

I agree.
Tad's cues gain value year after year.
Tad should be in the hall of fame already.

also,,,i don't know about tad's output now, with his son making cues as well, but he used to make about 5-6 a month.......and they went to japan. which is why they're so scarce here. because of his low ouput, tad is meticulous about quality control. no minor imperfection leaves his shop.

if and when he uses ivory, the price triples or quadruples.

i used to shoot with a '89 josswest, played great. i also compare the hit to my '69 kershenbrach. i think they have a unparalled hit. high end yes, but well worth it along with the collecting value

I think he's something like 82 now. You know, the amazing thing is he used to cut all those tiny inlays by hand. There is no mistaking a Tad. I can spot one from 50 yards away. The cues that were sold in Japan went for 5K, 10K, 20K, and more - all cash. They were bought by dealers at huge prices and resold for double.

A lot of his players cue come around here, but his inlayed, spliced cues with his extra veneer, are rare to find. A plain cue, without points, can be had for about $1200 and the extra shafts are worth $200 - $300.

I am looking for one of his spliced cues with a fancy butt, but nobody's selling them. Someday I will find one.

i think tad might even be watching the pricing in japan, so that thay don't get out of hand. just my guess, because one dealer was selling his cues beyond the agreed upon price, and tad was not too pleased.

mark and joe at classiccues has had a fancy tad for a LONG LONG time now for about $5000-$6000

Tad

Tad builds a very very good cue. Not only is he a great craftsman, he's also a great man.

They've traded them in for the vastly superior Cuetec - everyone knows that.

OK - I'll tell you the real reason. The rest of them sold theirs for a stake. Ernesto is far too great of a guy to do that.

Here's a nice, level one Tad made from an old shovel handle he had laying around... just about $2,000. Yes, that's two GRAND.

Oh, you want an inlay? That will be an extra two-grand, thank you!

Chris

Tad

Tate that is exactly like mine!--except mine has a 3/8x12 pin and the guy I bought it from had Ernie G. put a leather wrap on it that exactly matches the phenolic joint. I have kept saying for yrs that I am going to have Tad's son put on a white and green linen wrap, but damn, the brown leather matching the joint and butt looks sooooo good. Anyway I bought it to play with and not as an investment. It goes to my oldest grandson and I'm looking for another custom cue for my youngest grandson. By the way I picked it up for under $600.00!!

Jenny Lee and USPPA champ Wayne Pullen do.
Ernesto's son Oscar also plays with a Titlist conversion by Tad.

I did e-mail you and I would like to see your cue. I suggest removing your e-mail address from the post above, for your own security. There are a lot of scams going around!
