There's a very nice looking Tad on Ebay. Does anyone know that seller? He's also got a Cognescenti on Ebay as well. No reason at all to think their are any issues with the cue or the seller - just being cautious. THANKS!

Thanks Ken

Can you give us a link or Ebay listing #?

Listing #7215117055

Feedback is good - the seller has answered a couple of questions - just want to know what I'm taking out a second mortgage for!!!

Thank you!!

They took several days to get back to me. He says the joint is ivory but no mention in the ad. That's curious.

Something about it makes me very leary.

Nice sticks with a two line description on all of them. 36 feedback but nothing you can look at lately.

I would be VERY careful.

Ebay

You really have to watch on ebay ,lotta scammers .One guy on ebay had a Tascarella ,so I emailed him and asked if hed take 2200.00 he responded and said yes ,so I asked him to call me as I dont like sending that much money and want to make sure that I was getting what I paid for .Anyways to make a long story short I was gonna do some checking to make sure # matched where he was calling from later the next day he cancelled all bids .Now I'm not saying that was B.S. or anything but all the pics that were taken looked like they were taken off a website .But Like I said he cancelled the bids and well I dont know if he was scamming or what but its always good to check back up on people .

Tad/Ebay

Thanks for the input.

I don't mind spending that kind of money (at least not too much!) as long as its a real deal. Something didn't/doesn't feel right about that auction. Maybe I'll regret it but I'm going to pass. I'm a little unhappy  because I would love to own that cue but I would be more unhappy if I was $1500 (or more) lighter with nothing to show for it!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!!

well it was pulled, but i had a prob with the cue.

i'm no tad expert....but you are all right about the ivory.

1...first off, i thought tad only did ivory on his top of the line cues, though i'm not positive.

2...are those tad joint protectors?

3...is it old? if so, tad didn't like highly figured BYM. he may have changed over the years, but,,,,,

4...didn't tad always do some ringwork in those thick bands in the butt?

my first impression was that it WAS a tad, though,,,,but this guy is sparce with his description.

I know that Tad makes cues like the one described as I had one.

I know I sound like a broken record but if there is any question of the seller use Scot Sherbine for escrow and the worry goes away. If they wont use an escrow then buyer beware.

Tad

That cue is a real Tad. It is a Martin style cue. A lot of people around here play with them and his shop is about 5 min. from my house. That cue should have a 3/8 pin, and the joint protectors are from Tad. He uses a different thread for that pin, like 3/8-11 or 12. I have never seen one like that with an ivory joint. The white on most of them is most likley fiber. The cue is most likely made in the 80's or 90's. It is a newer cue and the Tad logo is on the but cap. Tads newer cues have more birdseye in the maple to. One of my friends has one just like this cue. I like the hit of big pin Tads much better than his other cues, it plays great. I sold an old plain Tad about 6 months ago.

I mentioned the escrow possibility as well as another option to protect both of us but the seller never responded.

Here's some advise that I tell everyone that is worried about a seller on ebay. Ask the seller if you can pick it up in person and meet in a local area near him. If they seem to have some kind of problem with it, then I might worry about it. All honest sellers I have come across usually have no problem. Afterwards, I'd make up some excuse like "my friend that was going ot help me pick it up can't anymore and I'd be happy to pay for shipping costs".

Now is this shady on my part.. absolutely... If i'm paying a decent amount of cash for any item, I'd like to see how the seller reacts onto meeting me in person.

In his question and answer part, he claims the butt is also ivory.

That said, I think we can now safely assume that the butt and joint are implex.

But we can no longer assume the seller knows what they're doing.

This seller is doing a terrible job.

Whoa-I emailed the seller saying that I had a friend in the area who would delivery the $$$ and take possession of the cue. I had also said that I was intent on owning that cue. I certainly did not have a friend in the area but, as you said, I wanted to see what the reaction was.

Then you dont want to go there

SirBanksAlot -

Do as you wish, but if they wont escrow I wont buy.

Best of Luck
