Any one know where I can find a bed that will fit the Taig headstock that is 40 " long?? I am trying to put a machine together and can't find the bed without milling it my self. Don't have time for that....

I tried to find one but did not find one.
Worse the dovetail is odd.
If you mill one in aluminum, I might be interested.

I have found bunches of different sizes but nothing the same. I think Chris gets extrusions and has them milled to true them up. Don't know for sure.
I like the little spindle light weight high speed little drag. Great for sanding or polishing on the road.

I will keep ya posted

you have to get it from Chris Hightower.. It should be around $125 if he will sell it to you..
Do you know if it is the same size?? I know there is a riser block he uses but does that also change the dovetail size?

its the same size as the taig metal bed its just an aluminum extrustion thats hard anodized according to the folks at taig..

I use three short taig beds mounted to a board. They are set apart at certain lengths, one for the head stock, one for a tail stock for doing only the butt or shaft, and one for a tailstock with a steady rest in the middle bed for doing assembled cue. I just happened to be able to scrounge up three short beds & made everything easy. I had a 39" bed from a Hightower lathe & set it up in the same manner as my other rig, and it worked out great. I hook them up with a variable speed DC motor & controller. Makes a perfect set-up for finishing & sanding.

The best way to find out what I have is to contact me. I might growl a little once in a while, but I rarely bite. Telephone 770-684-7004. Between 2 and 6 pm eastern time is best.

If you don't want to make your own, go with Chris Hightower, you'll get exactly what you want/need!

I know from experience, he doesn't bite!
