Here is my new Cory Barnhart jump/break cue. Cory makes very, very few of these cues, but when he does, they are super well constructed. Top quality Curly Maple and Figured Bubinga were the woods used in this one.

The finer points: The dots on the jump joint actually line up (even though I did not have it quite snug in the pic), he uses a large piloted Uniloc joint for the jump joint to add super stability in it, and he put a Titanium radial pin at the main joint. This is a super piece of understated work (as all of Cory's cues are). You can't really appreciate the craftsmanship until you take some real close looks at the cue.

Great piece of work and beautiful woods used.

I seldom see such a fine piece of curly maple being used in jump break cues.
The work looks very clean and neat as well.

Thanks guys. Cory always uses premium quality woods, and his workmanship is second to none. I wanted the J/B cue to be simple in its appearance so that the wood would stand out. The only extra he added was his 100 silver inlay ringwork, which just sets the cue off...Oh!.. don't want to forget the 4.4 ounce, over 30 growth-rings per inch shaft wood, either.

I will try to take pics again on a day when the sun is not so bright, then, the grain of the woods will be much more pronounced.

You said something simple,where is the simple???. That is a piece of class if I ever seen it. Nice looking break,jump and keep shooting cue.Poolrod.

what kind of tip? Phenolic? How did it compare to your Petree? If I remeber correctly you did break w/ a Petree.

First, please remember that it is not like there is going to be a big run of Barnhart jump-break cues. I am not trying to sell jump-break cues for Cory. I feel very priviledged to have one of his cues as a J/B. Cory makes very, very few of them, but when he does, he approaches it the same as with all his other cues. Nothing but the best materials and craftsmanship.

Cory has a special technique on his phenolic tip. It is sort like an iceberg...you see a little at the top, but he has it threaded down into the shaft.

Comparing it to the Petree is tough. Both are great J/B cues. I broke with the Petree for quite a while until someone wanted it worse than I did. Petree makes one of the nicest looking J/B's out there, with all the inlays, leather wrap, and all. He just isn't making too many cues right now.

Both cues are extremely solid breakers. Cory's cue is stiffer in the break than the Petree and it is a little easier to jump with, also, with the short phenolic ferrule. The ball just goes airborne with very little effort. The 30 GRPI shaft with Cory's stiff taper may also have a little to do with that. Can't knock either cue. Both are great, just different.
