This thread is supposed to be about TAKINI cloth. It appears as if people are referring to other situations, which are muddying the "field" here.
I purchased a package of 9' TAKINI (Electric Blue/Tournament Blue whatever) from SINGERNAK about a month ago. He promptly shipped it to me in Central California. Had it in my hands three days after payment, as promised.
I had it professionally installed by a man who was trained by Oscar Dominguez of Texas. I asked him to inspect the cloth, and after installing, give me his opinion of the cloth.
He could find no difference in the cloth, with the exception of the stitching around the edge of the cloth, and, the material had approximately 3 times the stretch of Simonis, making it a very fast table.
Now, after reading all the comments regarding the Simonis label on the bag (which DID push my curiosity button), I finally personally contacted Simonis by e-mail, and got an immediate response from IVAN LEE of Simonis.
His response was that (first) Simonis has NO link to TAKINI, whatsoever. However, in saying this, he also stated that TAKINI DOES sell SIMONIS cloth. Thus, as many vendors throughtout the world use a common practice, they have all of their shipping bags imprinted with all their products, saving $$ on printing.
So, in my humble opinion, I can understand why there is a SIMONIS imprint on their bags, however, intentional or not, it could be mis-leading to a purchaser.
Mr. Lee also stated that he had previously contacted TAKINI and requested that they NOT use the SIMONIS insignia on their bags. Since one does not know how many thousands of bags were printed, or just how long this vendor has had the merchandise, it is not that big of a deal.
So, again, referring to the original post, This man is selling a viable product, made by a Korean company, who also happens to sell SIMONIS cloth. I do not know Chris personally, however, I had NO PROBLEMS with our specific transaction.
I hope this will quash the question of TAKINI cloth. IF anyone is looking to replace their table cloth, this IS an inexpensive way to do so, with a comparable cloth to SIMONIS. Those of you who might have other situations with Chris should post on separate threads.
Just trying to set some records straight.
