In the Wisconsin Open, some of the pros used talc and played on the TV table. You can see how pristine they kept the table.

i never use powder ....
You never played in a Miami Beach bar 90% humidity and salt air. I used to play in Keys a lot. There was a lot of action in Key West in the 70s and 80s. Your stick would not even move through your bridge. One bar with a lot of action was open air. If you see the movie "92 in the Shade" with Peter Fonda. The Cow Key Marina bar where they filmed was where I would play. Big open windows right onto ocean. You will see the pool table. I was there when they were shooting.

The humidity here in the Miami area is definitely difficult. Personally, I hate powders and gloves and never use them. I have found keeping the shaft slick and washing my hands now and then is perfect for me. Drinking beer helps keep a regular hand washing schedule too.

My main hangout had a chalk cone, but someone knocked it off (no wood post for some reason) and the owner just put up a bottle of powder to replace it. The mess and handprints drove me crazy so my Christmas gift to the owner (and me) was a new chalk cone and I made a new post, so it won't get knocked off again. Way better now.

Talcum powder is being blamed for giving women Ovarian cancer.
Why the hell would you want to use it on your hands and possibly ingest or breathe it in?

I don’t remember the last time I used it, but…
If you just rub a couple fingers on the cone, then apply it where you need it, not only will you barely see it on the table - you’ll barely see it on your hand(s).
The people that grab the sob like they’re about to throw a post pattern spiral are a pain in the ass.

Yes I agree and I make sure and shit up the table every time I play. I clean it after as I like to start out on a fresh table. But after I’m going the last thing I’m thinking about is powder on the cloth. I’m thinking about shape(where the CB lands) and my next sequence of shots-being in line. Nothing else matters. I want to be in the good side of the ball and have my man in a trap if I’m playing 1P.

Smoke,
Talc
Chalk dust

Are the least of my concerns. I don’t want that distraction of that. Music I just ignore if I don’t like it.

Focus is key to playing your best. Trying to learn every time you play can be a distraction too-but that’s another conversation. And much more important than a talced up table.

Have fun
Fatboy😀😀
