Talisman delam question

I just had my 314 shaft re-tipped with a medium Talisman. This is my first layered tip. I don't know why it took so long, I guess old habits are hard to break...and I was concerned about how they would hold up.

Anyway, I immediately noticed you can see an edge at each layer that looks like a slight delamination on the dime shaped radius.

Is this normal? Or is this the first sign that it is going to delam?

It was done by a local cue maker so he knows what he was doing.
Any input is appreciated.
 
How does it sound when you hit a ball. I had ordered 3 talisman pro meds and installed one myself. Boy was that a big mistake. Took another one and had my cue maker install it for me. Lasted about 5 days and then miscued on a draw and the next hit i took i knew it had delaminated. Last 2 layers had seperated. Sliced it off, sanded the bottom of the tip and glued it back on. Not delaminating anymore since the sholder of the tip is pretty low now, but hits more sponge like now. Gonna get another tip on next time i see my cue maker.

Now i didnt order directly from tony and to be honest i regret that. I didnt exactly feel like sending a money order that far off. The tips i got the layeres were uneven and the tip itself was uneven (maybe crushed a bit during transit?). Either way im gonna hold off on getting another talisman tip for a bit, gonna take this chance to try out some other tips.

If it sounds the same as before (thats if it wasnt delaminating already once it was installed), try pushing against the side of the tip and if it moves then its delaminated.
 
It sounds fine so far and plays well. I was just concerned that it was going to separate further.

When he was shaping the second shaft the two outer layers came off. He then shaped it down fine after that. It is my second shaft, but both have this feathered edge at each layer of the shaped portion of the tips.

I guess I should have gone with the Moori instead.

I went with the Talisman because I want to get an OB-1 and wanted to have a similar comparison between 314 and OB-1.
 
I believe there have been several posts as of late complaining about QC Problem with Talisman Tips. Contact Tony at Talisman and see what he will do for U...
 
Try the Sniper by Tiger...you'll throw all Talisman tips in the trash...really.
Make sure to have it installed by a pro though.
 
Instructions

Talisman has some very detailed instruction on how to apply and prep their tips before shooting. The instructions go over what to use and not to use, tip tappers is just one of them. As other posters have said, just contact Tony he's a big help.
 
Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, I have already gone through the process with them on these two shafts. I guess I will get to do it again with Moori tips.
 
When I put a new tip on my cues I notice the layers appear pronounced but after a little play on them they lay down nicely...you'll know it delaminated when it does feel spongy...when you scuff a laminated tip go from the center out so as to not lift the edges up...;)

Thanks for the input. I have shaped them with a shaper from the center out and finished off with a Willards dime shaper. Maybe the Willards is causing the edges to raise? I will play them for a while and see if it gets worse.
