Talk to a soldier on CQ about anything.

Follow-up:
Prior to me getting the job as Shop Office Clerk in a heavy equipment maintenance company I was doing nothing but k.p. and pulling guard duty and any other crappy thing. This is because I was being carried as excess in the company and on post. I got sent Sill with 3 others to make up a maint. team but our M.O.S. wasn't on post yet. I grabbed the job as Shop Office Clerk soon as it became available. The best perk that came with it was that it was 'vital' to the company's operation and for that I became Exempt from Duty. Gotta love it. After all the BS I put up with the first few months I was now cruising. Although this wouldn't get me out of the AIG it did get me out of the Saturday morning inspections. I had to be at the shop for incoming calls. It was like that until maybe my last month or two in the service. The company was getting short on E-5's and above so I had to pull CQ a couple of times. I got out with a little over 6 mos time in grade as a SSG. Now that's a whole story in itself. If you remind me I'll tell that to you next time you're pulling C.Q.

I'm not too far from you either. I'm up on the other side of the sound in Bremerton. Since I'm not pulling duty I'm now heading to bed. I have to get my rest so that I can go hit some balls around tomorrow morning at the "OPH."

I'm having trouble replying to everyone in "multi-quote" I keep getting a notification saying "awaiting administrator approval". Any reason for this? Sorry if it seems like I'm ignoring some of you but I'm being lazy and don't want to spend all the time to reply individually lol.

I love the stories though, always nice to talk to guys that served before me

DOesn't matter just reply to each person in one post for each.

Been there done that. First week in country in Germany I was out guarding a generator in ankle deep mud in support of a helicopter battalion. We were an Air Force weather unit that had to support infantry and calvary in the field. I joined the Air Force and they sent me to the Army.

The base itself and adjacent was beautiful though, Schwaebisch Hall.

Hey Doc,

I'm in central Ill waiting for the sleet and snow to start. Hope your shift is going smoothly. Never was in the military so I can't talk about that. I just started a book by Eric Larson, In the Garden of Beast about America's first ambassador to Hitler in 1933. Think its going to be pretty good read if you're into history. Did you read Devil in the White City? Well time for me to finish cleaning house:(

I can't say I have heard it called the rock, Mt. Rainier is beautiful when it's visible. Ever heard it called the "disappearing mountain"? I don't know what you are being treated for but I hope everything works out, thanks for serving!

Sorry you had to spend time on an army base! lol. We have McChord AFB next to us and it is much nicer haha girls are better looking too :p

I love shooting both, but honestly there are a lot of similarities between the two. Like focus, body position, aiming even follow through. Thanks for serving!

Hahaha well technically you aren't wrong! My grandfather served in Vietnam from 67 to 69. Thank you.

Your grandfather!!!!! What are you like 10 years old? Holy cow that makes me feel real old. I'm only 65 for gods sake.

It was 1979, Jim Healdreth (Old Pool Detective)and I were crusing the road in my old 66 Ford R Code Galaxie (427--with 2 -4 barrel Holly's and 4 speed)
We had been gone for about 2 weeks and making good head way on our bank rolls. Had been playing through the North East .I hadn't found any action in this spot up above Baltimore that we had heard had money floating around. Had been inside this spot for about 3 hours. I decided since I'd been up for awhile I'd head out to the car to get's some sleep. Healdreth had a nack for pissing off locals where ever he was and this night was no exception--I heard him hollering while I was a napping, START THE DAMN CAR--I'm glad I heard him for once--cause he ran his mouth all the time we were on the road where ever we went and I was about to get ust,ta not listening to him at all, but I heard him this time. This big toush hog was chasing him down and he was'a biggen-- I was lucky on two points--Healdreth jumped in in time to get away from the toush hog and the car was fast enough he couldn't get my gun outta the glove compartment until I hit 7000 on the tach--only car that I ever owned that would out run the head lights--So, that wraps up the pool , traveling, cars and guns in one short story--
