just buy a steak dinner ... TAOM not worth the money. at $5 it might be worth it, but 25-30 dollars .... sort of crazy
If you are playing in a room out about town, yep it really doesn't make since to switch over to the new chalk. They are using masters which has been my go too for over 50 years. The cloth on those tables in rooms are cleaned regularly but will still have the masters residue permeated into the weave of the cloth. It's hard to get out and even using the new chalk your hands will still be dirty and yep, ya just clean them off later. Now what goes on with a table at home after it's been cleaned a number of times and using the new chalk? After hours and hours of play, your hands stay clean, the cloth is clean , has no crystalized pieces of chalk laying around the table, no marks of chalk build up on the balls and cue ball,,no build up of chalk on you cue shafts and one of the biggest benefits that hasn't really been covered, the whole area around the table stays cleaner .
When cleaning my table before using a heavy horsehair brush, clouds of blue dust would come up off the cloth. Some of that blue dust would go down table , but some could float around a coat stuff laying around. This doesn't happen now I have tried it, and there isn't any blue dust floating around anymore.
Does this chalk make one play better It's absurd to even think it would or could. Masters is great chalk, just messy as all get out. The new stuff plays just as good as Masters but no matter the price difference here is what Toam helps with , I don't have to clean the table, nor the balls or the area around the table as much and the chalk lasts about the same as 4 or 5 blocks of Masters would, from what I am seeing. Nope, not a thing wrong with masters , nor the Toam chalk,,only thing Toam has going for it, it's cleaner. Might add I have had many balls skid when using Masters chalk which resulted in missed balls. Sorta on a regular basis when playing where tables weren't cleaned on a regular basis,,have not had or seen one skid now since using this new chalk and I play around 2 to 3 hours a day fo over a month now.
If you are playing in a room where Masters is being used, you probably will not see much benifit , if you have a table at home and value your time of keeping the table clean and the equipment clean and the area around the table clean, the Toam chalk will pay for itself in time savings. That may be that thing that room owners will find on their own someday, but that isn't my biz, I'm just pointing out what I have found that is working well for me .
