Now a days that is like asking what is everyone's favorite shoe type. In the past it was 5/16 14 and 5/16 18 and 3/8 10. Now there are a lot more choices with radial pins, G-10 and multiple quick release types. There are also several others that I didn't mention.

The pro taper of at least 10 inches pretty much straight from the tip back has been most popular for many years. When I say pretty much straight, that is where every cuemaker may vary it to achieve the right stiffness for the diameter shaft they are making and for the way they want their cue to play. My shafts increase about 1/4mm in the first 12 inches. Shaft diameters of around 12.75mm has now become more popular than 13mm among most top cuemakers. 13mm reigned as king for decades.

i think a epoxy finish is the best
