TAR King of the Hill List?

The best right now is Bustorcullo. No, it's Orcustamante. Ok, I can't choose between these guys. Busty was unstoppable in the Fatboy 10-ball event, in which both Shane and Orcullo participated. Orcullo was dominant at the US Open 10-ball, in which both Bustamante and Shane participated. Though undeniably impressive, Shane's win at the Super Billiards Expo 10-ball event is slightly tainted by the fact that neither Bustamante nor Orcullo was present. And, of course, Bustamante has owned Shane in TAR matches.

These superstars are all capable of beating each other, even in a race to 25, but of late, the Fillipinos have been the stars of ten ball.

And let's not forget that Shane won the nine ball event at Derby City and Bustamante and Orcullo were both in the field.

thanks very much for the overview of the TAR matches!! love such statistics. I saw many of them and it was always worth it. TAR provides real pool fans sth unique. it's wunderful to watch this great players coming head to head. I personally loved the races to 100 coz it definately shows which player is in better form. But I see good reasons why they have changed to races to 25. and this king of the hill-mode sounds interesting and challenging. I am looking forward to it.

I can agree with ur list of best players. But I am pretty sure that there is a bunch of players out there that i wud bet my money on if they matched up with mike dechaine! thinking abt wu, chin-chun yang, souquet, appleton, feijen, corteeza, alcano, strickland....

theoretically interesting wud be a list of the best players based on the assumption that every player wud bring their A-game to the table. In my view busti wud top that, followed by shane, then maybe orcullo but i aint sure about that....

Good post, and, yes, Dechaine is no Souquet, but these lists are restricted to those who seem candidates to play a TAR match, not all players.

Still, I think it's time to give Dechaine some credit. He came third in the Nine Ball event at Derby City, finishing ahead of Orcullo, Alex, Busty and Vann Corteza. He smoked Hatch in their TAR match. He came fourth in the US Open 10-ball, which featured a very elite field of 96 players. I think Mike has come into his own. Admittedly, he's not above, but is probably mentionable with established greats like Appleton, Immonen, Hohmann, Alcaide, Archer, Morris and a few others. Mike has shown sustained excellence in 2012.

And, as you said, TAR matches are a treat indeed!

I'm not sure that Hatch will be offered back anytime soon, considering the circumstances of the circus that the match was played under. Especially considering all the talk about how TAR believes that should act...during the podcast prior to the match.
