I was sitting here trying to figure out what was missing and I figured it out.....no TAR match to watch. Not sure about the rest of you but I had a great time watching and more importantly learning from that match.

A couple observations I had were:
Corey- I may be a little bias being from Columbus Ohio, but that guy has some serious talent and a great attitude/approach to the game. Want to know how to be the best at something? Its not doing what everyone else does it is doing what everyone else is not doing. I think most of us working on how hard we can hit our break, how to develop an aiming system that makes every shot, etc.. What does Corey do.....works on how to hit the balls as easy as possible resulting in the perfect pattern to run out. Or break 8 ball to put himself in a position to win. Knowing he is out gunned on the break he tries to make the head ball, but if he does not still leaves a tough rack to run out. Or in one pocket out moves Shane by a mile taking away his superior ball making ability.

Shane- the dude is just sick. I know it has all been said before but he proves time and time again that he is the best we have to offer (American that is). He takes a very workman style approach to his game that is so very impressive. At work we call it E+R=O (Event+Response=Outcome) and all his practice, dedication, and ability to learn is his response that drives the outcome he wants.

TAR- I love that you keep tweaking your show/business model. The all around format provides a great change of pace that kept me involved and wanting more. The race to 100 is great to tell who is the best, but there is a reason nobody watches Cricket. Also, knowing that the soft break would come into play bringing in Joe Tucker was a very nice touch. And finally please try and keep Jeremy Jones around..... may be the best in the business when it comes to commentating.

Just want to say thanks again...... a happy customer!

Definitely a great event. I wanted to see Corey play some more nine ball. That was amazing to watch. I watched Shane bang balls and drop the competition in the us open. But what Corey was doing was something I had never seen before with that much precision.

Corey has undeniable talent but not the best attitude. In the interview before the 9 ball match, he admitted to having no chance in 8 ball. Not sure if he sets up an excuse just in case he loses or he just doesn't care, but there is no way I am spending my money watching a match if one of the players has given up even before the match has started. That's why I didn't purchase the 9 ball as much as I would like to support TAR.

I really enjoyed watching these two. I was disappointed there was no chat though.

Good to see a fellow Columbus resident on the forums. I wonder if we've crossed paths in the local halls. Small world.

Dopc.

Corey out right announcing that he has no chance in 8 ball, telling people not to bet on him, and coming in with an injured wing (arm) and not being able to break well must have hurt the take rate on the PPV. I was questioning my own judgement for a while there when watching it.
It was amazing, and a tribute to Corey, that he was able to hold his own as much as he did. It seems though at that level he needs to be more positive and confident, to himself when looking in the mirror and to the audience when promoting the PPV. Competing at any level, especially the highest world class level, requires you to know that you are going to win even before you do.

Regardless of what Corey said before the match if you didn't think Corey was giving his best effort and trying to win then I'm sorry, but you weren't paying attention. His break strategy was cleverly crafted just for the purpose of giving himself a chance and it darn near worked. He was in both the 8 and 9 ball matches late in the game. No give up there.

@Luxury
There was a giant link to the chat on the TAR homepage right beneath the link to access the ppv. Not sure how you missed it.

I agree that Corey was trying hard and I think people sometimes don't understand his sense of humor regarding his comments about the match.

I understand that he was injured in this match, but in the future I'd like to see him break in a more standard fashion. I enjoy his creativity, but sometimes I think he makes things more difficult for himself, not just his opponent.

For example, in the SBE (I think it was that tournament), he kept safe breaking in 10 ball against Kiamco and it backfired against him. It's not like he doesn't have a standard break. He should use it more often. It seems sometimes that he is bored with pool and just chooses to experiment even if it doesn't improve his chances of winning. I say this as a fan of his. I think if he played in a more standard manner, he would win more matches.

On another topic, I don't understand why Appleton is getting another opportunity on TAR. It seems like it was relatively recently that SVB spanked him. I'd really like to see Rodney Morris on TAR. I know he had a falling out with Mark Griffin, but it was be great to see how he would fare. His style of pool is very fun to watch- just get up there and run out

Yeah I agree Rodney would be good to watch! I would also like to see Appleton against SVB again.

Probably a couple of factors:
  1. He's willing to get down and play
  2. He's top ranked and his past performance vs SVB (on TAR) is probably not indicative of his actual skill
  3. He's probably a good PPV draw
  4. He's easy to deal with and thus TAR will invite him back (people shouldn't underestimate the value of this....McDonadls doesn't build drive throughs for nothing)

Now if he gets his nuts shot off again...then maybe he won't be back soon, so it's imperative that he performs well.

Nice to see this positive post about TAR. I loved this format also with the all around. I have never heard better one pocket commentary than Jeremy Jones. Bill Incardona is the only one that's close, no one else is. He describes what he would do and why almost every shot, which is extremely valuable!! I really enjoyed the weekend with Corey and Shane. Thanks Justin and TAR for another first class show!!!

I only watched about half of the match. Was there an announcement that an Appleton TAR match is upcoming? Thanks.

There was a chat on our ustream page. There was a big banner on the TAR homepage that said "CLICK HERE TO GO TO USTREAM CHAT".

Didn't you see it?

No desire to work with Rodney. I couldnt fade the Facebook complaining about the table, the carpet, the money, promoter induced global warming or any one of a thousand other things.

Another X-factor: Daz is a great interview. He showed up for the TAR Podcast #36 and was terrific.

I understand that he was disrespectful to Mark. I don't condone that, but I think he would be great to see because

1. he is a very talented player. shoots extremely straight.

2. shoots very fast. wastes no time.

I am rather surprised that Rodney is considered a prima donna. I'd never heard anything like that about him until his comments about the US Open 10 ball. I always thought he was a laid back, easy going guy. However, that is just from the outside looking in, I don't know him personally.

I saw it and clicked on it many times. Perhaps my problem was I was watching the match on my ipad and trying to chat from my iphone.

What were the comments Rodney made? Link?
A lot of players will b*tch and moan about format, venue, etc... especially if they lose.
But it doesn't have to be taken personally.
