voice chat!

The chat room is essential. We have a great time in there. The ability to just talk and not type would be even better.

Is this possible?
 
Sounds good, but what would the cap be? Voice chat with 10+ people can get chaotic.
 
That's what I meant by "is this possible?"... I was too vague. It's obviously possible to do but would it work in practice? I don't know..

Maybe we can try and set something up for the Harriman/Schmidt re-match.. who's interested?
 
there's a real simple way to do it and it's cheap.

i play online PC games - (counter-strike and team-fortress 2) competitively and good voice communication is essential.

there's a program called ventrilo which is the best. It runs in the background and it's just a case of hold down the button and speak.

in reality there probably wouldn't be that many people going to use it so a simple 25 slot server would suffice which would only cost say 10 dollars, if that.
 
Aye Worried I too use Vent in CSS sometimes..........was using Roger Wilco and TeamSpeak back in my old Red Baron 3D days.......
 
I used to play CS when I had a pc.. is there a website based voice chat kind of thing? Maybe one that's free? :) Something that anyone (pc and mac users) can connect to using a standard browser and a mic.
 
Sounds like a bad idea to me. First, it would probably be too many people and they would end up talking over each other. It would also get too difficult to know who is talking, and who is being talked to.

Second, the matches have commentary. If you have your volume on, you will get the commentators and chat room people talking at the same time and over each other. If you have your volume down, you hear nothing.
 
I have to say, I too think this is a bad idea. Typing in the room or in private messages is more than suitable. They have commentators, the mic's picking up noise from the table and pool room, and you want to add probably 30 or more people talking to the mix. I just dont think its necessary or viable. What they are doing is just fine.
 
Ventrilo client is free...its the server that costs if you want to have more than 5 clients connected.

I use vent all the time. Works great!!

It's fine until you get lots of people wanting to talk at the same time. Then it is very annoying.
 
Then there is Skype........ you could start a conference amoung peeps who want to talk to each other.........
