Tascarella Cue questions...for owners and previous owners...

The 1st cue I liked...But a cue seller- RIP Joe Salazar ....Joe Had a customer for a Tasc,
Joe traded me Brand New SW Cue for the Tasc.
Joe over the years, Sold and traded many cues with me here in Tulsa. So I did the deal with him as a favor.
I got an fancy, Inlaid Tasc. cue from ebay.
I sent the cue to Pete for new tips and I think clean the wrap...was a superb cue all around, except the butt was oversized in diameter,
I asked Pete about it, Said he built that cue according to Old Bushka specs for a customer in the Orient...
the 3rd Tasc cue I got from az forums. was standard 4 pointer that I also sold to a regular cue friend here on az as well.
5K is a lot of $$ for a cue for some people, but if you have the cash, go for it.
Try to say in the 29 x 29 specs...if you decide to sell later thats typically what most want in a cue, not too heavy either.
did you keep it a week? ;)

I've always liked the idea of having a Tascarella cue. The history with Balabushka, the classic style, very old school.

So I got a quote...nothing fancy, his classic 4 point, 4 veneer with stainless steel joint, a few notched diamond inlays with leather wrap.....$5,250!!!

The questions I have...

1. Is that worth that price or should I find something used?

2. Is it worth the hype? Does it really have a great hit and feel? I know its subjective but I do see a lot for sale.

3. Do you have one that you would never get rid of because you love it so much?

4. If you have ordered a custom from Pete, what aspects of your cue have you loved or not loved?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!
John
My opinion is that you are paying a lot for a name.
If you are a collector, it's worth it.
If it's just for playing there are a ton of great production cues for under $2000.
And a lot of customs from lessor known makers for $2000 or less.

if you need to go from your house to the supermarket
a kia/toyota/ lexus/Mercedes//porsche/ferrari
for examples will all get you there
the ride will be different in all of them
if your choice is dependent on affordability vs your choice is based on indulgence vs quality and i like it i dont care what it costs i can afford it
will influence your decision which car you pick
a $50 hooker and $1000 dollar hooker
both will get you to orgasm
you have to decide what can you afford and how do you want to get there
just sayin
jmho
btw
tascarellas are great playing cues
I’m not sure after this post whether I’m hungry or horny.

I agree. It’s worth it if it means enough to you. My decision was to forgo the new Tascarella and search for a good used example to play first. If I love it, I’ll go ahead and order a custom.

Smart decision. Try a Hoppe and take the bolt out, which creates some nice resonance. Traditional ones are nice too, but the Hoppes hit really nice.

This.

I am beyond thrilled with a customer build I "recently" had done. Price was FAR below what you're looking to spend on a Tasc.

That said...I WILL own a Tasc, at some point. That's my white whale cue.
