Team Europe's fans

Is it me, or are Europe's fans the most annoying unsportsmanlike fans you've ever witnessed?

I mean, I'm all for cheering on great shots, and encouraging the players, but what they do in those stands is preposterous. Them yelling "oooooooHHHHHH" on near misses and and accidental safeties, cheering for mistakes on team USA part such as scratches and positional errors. And, singing some absurd songs like it's a fvcking football game, I mean come on.

I even saw Jason Shaw in the stands with his wife and he looked ashamed of even sitting next to this bunch of yahoos.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it's always been this way with the Mosconi cup. It's really annoying to watch, and I don't know if I would condone this behavior as a Team Europe player

You didn't need to start a new thread, this post would have fit nicely in the thread titled Mosconi Excuses.

Just sayn

US fans chanting Jasmine while Albin played was cool though right? IMO it's like anything else you cheer for so you should be able to go nuts as long as the outcome benefits you. That's just called being a fan and let's face it, USA needs to give us more to cheer about.

So many whiney little women in this thread

Seriously. For 11 months out of the year on these boards people are lamenting how pool is dead, and the one event of the year that has any juice and folks want to shut it down.

There were actually young, enthusiastic fans in attendance giving it all they had. Imagine that.

This exactly.

I was there, and the Europe fans were never out of line really, and never too obnoxious.

It was an absolute blast to be able to shout and cheer for these guys. It adds an entire new element to the match, for both fans and players.

Pool needs more events like this, more cheering sections, more team scotch doubles events...

You really have no idea how much fun it is, unless you were there.

PS: team USA needs better chants.

Expecting people to sit and respect the players while they're shooting doesn't mean the sport is somehow going to die out.

This is a sport where ONE person at a time is taking a detailed shot that has everything to do with whether they can take another or not.
This is not a sport where if you score a basket (or a goal) then you reset and it has no effect on if you stay on the court or not.

So expecting people to not be screaming at the top of their lungs and making noise as if there was a huge remodeling job going on in the same hall is simply not too much.

They can do what they want at the end of the match once the 9 is down but certainly not during each match and people are trying to concentrate.

This is supposed to be a world-class event not the local dive down the corner.

Is it asking to much for you to comprehend that the Mosconi Cup is not supposed to be like other high profile events?

The Mosconi Cup has ALWAYS had this atmosphere, and that should NEVER change.

^^^^^^^^^ this

The Euro fans make the Mosconi cup what it is. When they play the tournament in the UK it's 10x crazier than in Vegas

It is a world-class event, and the only one like it. There are hundreds if not thousands of tournaments around the world that "keep quiet" is the norm but that does not mean that the Mosconi cup should not be different. I spent a fair amount of money getting to this event because its not the norm.

The vast majority of the singing and chanting was between the matches and would tail off as the player would be preparing for his break. There were certainly a few cat-calls that lingered into a game and comments that were made buy a few who may have had to much rocketsauce.

Watching these amazing players and refs trying to hold it together under these conditions is what makes this show so entertaining. And being apart of it live is the coolest thing I have ever done in the game.

From the outside looking in it may seem rude and disrespectful but the reality is it is different and meant to be.

The most exciting pool there is all year, every year, and people still *****. Get over it, we (USA) got beat by the better team not because of some rooting in the stands. Think world series, bottom 9th, bases loaded, 2 men out, do you think the fans are going to quiet down because it may effect Johnny pitcher or Mikey at the bat, hell no. It makes it that much more exciting and thats what attract's new viewers and pool needs new viewers. If all the major pool tournaments were like the MC is every year, pool would do a lot better with the excitment of the crowds as opposed to "that was a nice three rail kick safety" followed by clap clap clap, If you know what I mean....jmho
