I would have agree with you up until I viewed 63Kcode's post and viewed the Balabushka Cue he put up on Deanoc's thread.
63K's Balabushka cue is so darn handsome it tempted me to even reconsider the Balabushka cue design Jerry is currently making for me.
Your Rauenzahn cue embodies the meticulous workmanship and beauty his cues are known for. Jerry did an excellent job making your cue.

Let me say again....the OP had the nicest cue up until yesterday when I spotted this one on Dean's thread asking for photos of Balabushka cue photos.
If this cue was indeed a Schon cue, then it'd have to be best Bob Runde ever made in his career.
I'm debating whether to ask Jerry R. to build this design along with the Balabushka Tribute cue that's underway.

Can't imagine why....love the veneers. Beautiful work.
I am not a fan of Deans tribute cues done by Schon.
The one he did with the rounded inlay points IMO, was not up to my expectations. The bad thing is that Schon COULD do it old school with the real points like their older model cues, or have someone else build the forearms for Schon, for them to use.
The one that was done like an old JW, with the clovers at the end of the points hid that rounded point, and looked much better IMO.
Sometimes I wonder after all the trouble, time and expense of these tributes, for twice the money wouldn't it be better just to buy an old Gus? They seem like they are around often.

Ken's views might not align with how everyone else sees the different Tribute Cues from Schon. I owned the first Tribute cue Schon issued and I felt like
the cue looked incomplete....like something was missing....which it was.... CNC points just do not make a cue design I'd ever want to own. However, the
Tribute cues made by Schon have gotten steadily better and the best was the CP ivory joint cues.
Back to Ken's observation..... the veneers and points will not make the cue play a damn bit better. You know that, Ken knows that and so do I. But when
it comes to cue designs, don't be lazy and invest the time to hand mitre sharp points and veneers. You can charge more for the cue and it also looks much,
much better.....still plays the same but for me, the look is very important and is second to only the hit & feel of how the cue plays.

My feelings exactly!! Jerry Rauenzahn said the box work in the butt sleeve is some of his best mitered work EVER!!! He usually never brags, so to hear this from him on the phone made me want it NOW!!!
But, I have to wait like everyone else for this cue to have the matching shafts and ring work finished, well dried and ready for shipping.
After it arrives I will try and take some close up pics to magnify his "Points of Perfection" Jerry is known for.
It's hard to sleep at night thinking about this ivory beauty....

I just experienced a 10 1/2 month wait for a custom and I can tell you what you're experiencing is worth all the anguish.
The progress photos of your cue build will arouse you and drive your angst even higher than it is now.
As the finish line draws near, and you know the cue is being polished, you focus every waking thought on when it will ship......which morphs into its arrival after the cue-maker let's you know it's in transit.
The adventure is worth it.........It was so good that I'm doing it again with Jerry R. right now......it's addictive.
