Tegu Lizard

I've got a BB with the Tegu wrap and I'm wondering if this same wrap is available to other cuemakers. It's got a great feel but I've never seen it on any cues other than the BB.

The belly scales on real Teju lizard (big enough to get a wrap from) are generally too big for use on pool cues. When wrapped around the cue handle the profile of the handle creates an octagon effect from the scales.

Water monitor or Java lizard is less likely to have the octagon effect is far more practical and attractive for pool cues, IMO.

One can purchase Tegu skins any day of the week, so no, unless Toni has
some kind of secret cross-species agreement with the entire Tegu lizard population
it is unlikely to be an exclusive offering.

Seriously, I know Dickie has done a few. But as others picked up on from
your description, it may well be an embossed leather of pig or cow.

What in my description would lead anyone to think Tony put some embossed POS wrap on my cue ??

Maybe the part that caused Martin to make his comment.
Rumor has it he knows a bit about leather wraps.

From the picture, it looks like embossed, but I'm no expert. To clear it up, call BB and ask if it's a true real Teju lizard belly skin, or a replica embossed leather wrap. They know what they put on, verses people here looking at pictures trying to answer your question. Remember, you asked a question, and people answered. No one has said it's a POS wrap, they have just given their opinion based on their knowledge of this type of lizard wrap.

No way on earth did Tony put an embossed print wrap on this cue. I would be embarrassed to ask him about it. I simply stated I liked it and if other cuemakers can provide something similar. BTW.....Merry Christmas everyone.

Sometimes I just can not fathom peoples behavior...

Internet, email, text msgs, and everybody and his dog has a
cell phone or three.

Instead of asking a likely cuemaker of your choice, you would rather ask a question on here
then cop an attitude<showing my age:)> toward the very people who tried to help you?

Have a merry Christmas indeed.

Hate to say it. That is embossed leather. The pattern repeats it's self and you can see the sharp machine mark's from the tooling. Sly's is completely random. IMHO if this is a player you are much better off with a leather wrap due to the fact exotic skins take a lot of maintenance to keep them from drying out.

I also agree that the wrap on the cue shown by Tom is embossed leather (with all due respect, of course). Embossed doesn't mean bad leather. It just means embossed. It must be a superb grade of leather or Tony would not use it. I would prefer the embossed to the real thing myself but that is just my preference.

Well I guess Tony does use pleather for his wraps . At the price he charges for his work I'm surprised, but I still like the way the wrap feels.

Embossed leather is not pleather. While his prices are exceptionally high, he obviously creates a perceived value, otherwise the wrap would not have been a surprise.
