Hi Folks,

I'm off to the BCA's in a few weeks. One of the events I'm entered in is the ten ball. Can someone give me the location of the standard ten ball rules? I did not play in Atlantic City. Knowledge of the all the rules is important. Thanks in advance! Anyone else here entered in that event?

Sorry I can't help, but want to wish you good luck. Make sure you practice your break, as it's real tough to make a ball on the break in ten ball.

Hey Kid,
I don't think you'll be playing Atlantic City rules. That was a special version of 10 Ball, no miss rollout. The 10 Ball rules you'll be playing with are just like 9 ball.

Don't worry too much about your break, just focus on cue ball control and not scratching, worry about your rack though. If you're racking for your opponent make sure you freeze those two balls directly behind the the 10 to the 10. And if it's rack your own, don't be shy to check your opponents rack if you happen to notice the 10 going directly towards one of the lower corner pockets.

Good Luck, practice your kicks and safeties as I'm sure you'll need them both more than ever.

I heard a rumor this past weekend that next years Florida Pro Tour will be all 10 Ball because they're sick of the racking problems they've been having. YEEAAHHHHH!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the advice. I also understand the UPA is or was considering changing their game to ten ball.

I've been checking the back two since your last post. I thought spinning those two balls up to the nine tightened them. I'll double check each rack in Vegas. Good luck at Action next week!

Balls made on foul spot up. 1st foul is option to play or pass back. 2nd foul is play or take ball in hand behind headstring or pass back. 3rd foul is ball in hand with no pass back.

At the ring game last month in Starkville Prof. Gilmer put in effect the 'miss is a foul' rule. It was instituted to cut back on safety play and speed up the game. The rule was not very well received in my opinion. I felt that it favored the weaker player.

I would request a set of "their" rules as early as possible to become familiar with them. My sons and myslef did this with the Starkville tournament a couple of months in advance in addition to asking several questions by email. We practiced by these rules so when we arrived and my step-son played in the ring he was well aware of the rules.

Hi Pel,

Thanks for the heads up. I received an e-mail from the BCA saying that the event will be played by the rules of nine ball per the BCA Rule Book. Those are pretty straight forward.
