Ok so I admit I definately do not know half the terms I should...but I pick up new terms all the time and love to hear some of the expressions the ol timers use.

So what slang do you use and is there a story behind it??

(Quote from Poolhall Junkies):
Mike Massey: Don't let your brother fool you, he can move the rock around with the best of 'em.

Danny: Whats he mean by the rock?

Jonny: Oh see, that the cueball.

Danny: Oh

i love the phrase "catching a gear". mostly because i am always behind and i need to catch a gear to get a win:)

Another good reason to buy Freddy the Beards' book ... Freddy lists a few pages of definitions of slang words from the 50s, 60s and 70s, some are still being used today.

I like the term "running boards". It just seemed approriate when I was playing on those valley tables they ship around north america for tournaments.

I don't know what it is about those tables but my break and run percentage just skyrockets on them.

Never got "sweatin' it" down...

Is it "sweatin' it on the rail" or "sweatin' on the rail"?

And... Do you have to have $ on the line to sweat?

Cue Ball

Whitey, Rock, Snow, Pill, and Me or I (as in "he had 'me' locked up behind the 4-ball).

How about some new ones:

Telly Savalas? or just calling the cue ball after famous bald people?
