texas tourny.

Raphael Martinez 1st
CJ Wiley 2nd
Joe Villapondo 3rd
Shane Waltrip 4th

All i can remember at the moment, paid 16 places.

more like the "good ole days" with all interest shown in Corpus Christi Texas.

CJ getting the cash.

Not bad for a guy who never plays.

Congrats mr Wiley.

Thanks, the tournament was a lot of fun. The CLICKS PARADISE pool room is very impressive, and the cocktail servers are......well.....let's just say "it's paradise" for sure. ;)

Rafael Martinez played incredible, and it did come down to the last game where I had a fluky scratch trying to make an aggressive break out on the 4 Ball.....Congratulations to Rafael and "Lil Shane" for a fantastic event....I'll make sure to put it on my schedule for next time.

The tournament was run very professionally, thanks to all that participated and the spectators were very hospitable.....Sat. night had to have over 200 people in the building.....it was more like the "good ole days" with all interest shown in Corpus Christi Texas.

Aloha

Rapael did play great, and that was some tough luck on the scratch. You thanked lil" Shane for a great tournament, but it was Greg Sparkman who put together this tournament. Shane was a big part of it, and I know you and Greg got a little agitated with each other, but it was Greg who let you in the tournament when Shane didn't want you in. So while you thank Shane, you really should thank Greg also. If it wasn't for him there would never have been a tournament. He deserves a lot of respect for all the hard work and effort he put in to make this one of the best tournaments we have seen here in a long time. I know everybody had a great time, and we got to see some incredible pool. Can't wait for the next one!!!

You are absolutely right, and I wanted to thank Greg personally and apologize for the heated moment we had about Rafael's racking issue. My concentration is one thing that's tough to build up without the "heat of competition" and that can be a double edged sword. There was certainly no hard feelings, I forget those things almost immediately, but during "the moment" sometimes negativity can spread in any event.

Greg did a tremendous job, and if you would, please PM his phone number and also the other gentleman that was running the tournament. I honestly don't know who's who as far as the tournament operation is concerned. I do know it was a very well run and professionally organized event......my hat's off to everyone involved.

Please PM me the phone numbers asap.....thanks and play well in 2014.

Hello,

Can you please elaborate on "Shane didn't want you in" Can one person say you can't get in and you're out? With that field it's tough to win for whoever makes it through.

CJ was late. the instructions called for a players meeting @ 09:00. He didn't show up until closer to 12:00.

Let me also say that while there certainly were participants that may not have wanted CJ in, I was not one of them. My interest were to have as high a quality field as possible. I offered to step aside and let CJ take my spot (I wanted to watch), but that turned out not be necessary.

The problem as I understand it, the tournament was full and CJ was not in it. They were halfway thru the calcutta when he showed up wanting to get in. The picks of the litter were already done, So another player offered to give up his spot so CJ could play, but since he would have been one of the picks, several players thought it was unfair to let him in at that point. It was almost 12 when he showed up. It wasn't that Shane didn't want him to play, it was about what was fair. Greg allowed him to play and everything turned out fine. Great tournament!

Overall a great experience, thanks again for everyone's participation.

Yes, I came down to play in the ring game the night before and it was cancelled. I was "up in the air" about playing and decided to go check it out (I thought it might be full)....several people encouraged me to get in and when it caused controversy I told them I'd decline.

Then, several people confirmed that might entree would be an added benefit by raising the Calcutta another couple of thousand (I went for $2100.).....and then everyone seemed to be ok with me playing so I accepted the last spot.....and the rest is history.

Again, I've played in many tournaments and this one was one of the best run events I've ever attended.....and 'CLICKS PARADISE' is a great venue with a very hospitable staff and the pool fans were "Texas Friendly" as well.....overall a great experience, thanks again for everyone's participation.

If anyone has access to pictures for the event I'd like to have some.....PM me Shane's number, I think he had a photographer hired and may have several....I'll put them on Face Book which goes out to 70k people if they want me to. . . Aloha

I may come down, it just depends on how my project in Ft. Worth is developing. I'm going to Tyler Texas this weekend to play it looks like......who knows, I may "get the fever" again, just wish there was more action to choose from.

Thanks, Bud, Cya soon.
