First and foremost, I want to thank Chuck. He didn’t have to do this, and it was awesome to see so many participate. It was a fantastic surprise to win!!! I haven’t even seen one of his cues in person, so I was VERY excited to receive this. Chuck is a very good contributor to this forum, and a class act, which just makes it a bit sweeter to have one of his cues!

Anyway here’s the link to Chuck’s wonderful holiday give away, for reference.

Initial thoughts upon first receiving the cue: It has a wonderful color combination. The bacote is superb, the natural phenolic and moose antler, just have a very classy and understated look. The stacked lizard wrap is both unique, and fitting to the overall scheme of the cue. The cue looks even better in person. When first putting the butt and shaft together, it seems to fit tight, and the balance is VERY GOOD! It has a very thin butt, which I prefer. That seems to help with balance and feel in my hands. Overall the cue appears to be planned and built very well.

Now onto playability. The cue plays pretty good. I think it hit too soft at first. I believe it had an UltraSkin tip, I’m not sure what hardness, but it was very thick. I normally play with a milk-dud, and the first thing I do with a new tip is cut it in half, then break it in. I switched out the tip after a bit of play, and liked it MUCH better. It was a bit of an adjustment getting used to not seeing my ferrule out there at the end. I never really noticed how much I see the ferrule when I shoot. It is a softer hitting cue by comparison to what I’m used to playing with, even with the tip change. Overall it is still a good playing cue. I let 10-15 people try it out, and 3 even offered to buy it.

FTR: I let several people hit the cue unmodified and all of them either loved it, or thought it was better than average, as far as hit, deflection, playability, etc.

Over all the cue’s fit, finish, and playability are good. Although I didn’t purchase this cue, I spoke with Chuck a few times after winning. Those exchanges, coupled with his pleasant demeanor, and quality posting here on AZB would lead me to believe he is more than likely great to work with. I am fully confident, if I were ever to have an issue, Chuck would take care of me 110%! I am very pleased with my new cue!

Thanks again Chuck! This was a fantastic surprise!

All the best, and Happy Holidays!

(I know this isn't quite the right area for this, but as Chuck was kind enough to give this cue away for free, I wanted to thank him in the most public forum. Fee free to move to cue reviews if need be.)

Chuck is located about an hour from me in mid Missouri and although I've never met him I've heard only good things about him and his cues.

It was nice of him to give away a cue.

Chuck contributes much to the Ask the Cue Maker forum.

He has helped me out lots, you ask and he doesn't mind helping a guy out.
