THANK YOU, Ken_4Fun

This thread points out that videos DO exist from yesteryear. We all assume that they don't exist and that we (and future generations) will never get to see these hallowed players in action. They are in someone's closet, some television archive, some audience member's attic...

Yet here it is...a series of videos that could be distributed on youtube (or other sharing site) to preserve the golden era of our sport. These videos document moments in the careers of several legendary players.

Efren barely in his 30's?!?!
Keith in "action"?!?!
Miz vs Davis 14.1?!?!?
Jean's last professional match?!?!?

I would feel a duty to preserve this information...long-forgotten ESPN privileges be damned. JMHO

I wonder if there is a way to contact ESPN and request a high-quality video. I'd be willing to pay for it if I thought it was possible. I'm sure they have quite a few vintage videos of pool that many would enjoy.

What about those old Mosconi versus Fats competitions!

I know this is a public forum and all but this is like 4 Germans and you sitting at dinner and they are speaking German all night. Kinda sucks for the rest of us don't ya think? My .02

Okay so...

No one is going to post the video on YouTube? Am I understanding this right? In that case, how would one get a copy?

Ken_4Fun sent me a copy of a DVD with a lot of cool pool matches on it. In fact, there were two DVDs.

I don't own the rights to this DVD, so I'm not comfortable posting it on YouTube. In fact, I don't even know how to do that, anyway.

Maybe Ken_4Fun can do this, since he sent this to me, or actually, Lawman888 posted in this thread that the original video came from him, so I guess he has the rights to it.

If they give permission to do so, I will see if I can figure out how to do it and post it up. Some of the video is not good quality, but there are some other matches that are great quality! It's a variety pack, but I sure feel lucky to have it in my collection.

Yep, "Wild Bill"........got to play him some several years ago at the Derby.....I'd bet he's still got a real nice game.

We get a Christmas Newsletter from him every year. After I got to know him better, I could see that this man was actually extremely intelligent. It may be disguised with his alien chatter, but he is one smart cookie! ;)

haha that's awesome...i'm gonna hit him up for old war stories during pool league then. i have a feeling the conversation will turn to aliens/gov't conspiracy though

JAM -

Later on that DVD, there is video of Keith McCready in the ugliest shirt on the planet in a gambling match. He might have been a great poolplayer but his selection of clothes is amazing!

During that match, BEHIND THAT GAMBLING MATCH ON THE NEXT TABLE, MAY BE the YOUNG, VERY YOUNG, John Brumback at 90 pounds. He thinks not, but I still think it is.

JAM - KEEPING WATCHING that video there's more!

LOL

Ken

How come I didn't get one yet? :(

I don't think that's gonna happen as he's still trying to sell dvds in the Louie Roberts thread when it's already been posted that's it's going up on youtube. I mean how much can you really make off selling old pool footage.

I dont think Ken was trying to "make money" selling the videos, but trying not to "lose" money handing them out to people who probably would never buy anything.....such as someone like, I dont know....you figure it ou:thumbup:

Thank you, Lawman888. That vintage video is absolutely brilliant. I will always cherish it.

I haven't had a chance to check out Jean's match yet. Steve Mizerak and Steve Davis are the first match, but according to Keith, he said that it was Steve Mizerak and Bobby Tompkins, a well-known boxing broadcaster today, who were commentating during his match.

Bobby Tompkins said Keith "has a personality made for TV." ;)

How about that Dennis Hatch sitting on the rail! He was so young in that video.

The announcer was Barry Tompkins.

Because of all of the PMs on the Keith McCready Gambling DVD, I will make you a copy.

The information for the DVD is in the Wanted/For Sale Section.

Ken

I am burining Louie Roberts and Keith McCready DVDs.

If you want either or both shipped to you on Tuesday let me know.

idk just thought the initial thread suggested they were going up on youtube.I didn't know that cost money to do. Ill pay for them for everyone if there's a cost if someone puts them up on youtube. Or Ill donate something to charity. Makes no difference to me. Just seems like these should be up for people to see. I wouldn't know LR if I seen him, and I certainly never seen him hit a ball.
