Burn all jump cues

Thank you all on here that tried to help me jump. I did get the ball up in the air a few inches, but very rarely over a full ball.

I had bought the Jeanette Lee DVD's (wife paid) because I needed to start over with the basics when I came back to the game. The reason I chose her DVD's was that I knew who she learned from. Jerry B., Bobby Hunter, George Breedlove, and other top players. Most of them were top road players, and good ones. Plus she pretty easy on the eyes too.

Anyway, I took another look at her DVD on jumping and a light went on. I was hitting the QB too high...like trying to drive it through the friging table. As soon as I lowered my cue to where she was hitting the QB, BINGO, I'm a jumpimg fool in about two hours. My problem now is after 50+ years of kicking to hit or make a ball I forget I have a jump cue (2 of them) and can jump now. Johnnyt

there are situations where a jump shot supercedes the kick. Its a good weapon to have in nine ball. learn how to dart jump and regular jump. I use each one for diffrent situations. Good luck

If u r playing a set for cash and a jump comes up, you'll remember. You gotta get off that back deck Johnny.

You were probably trying to jump at a spot on the CB that would preclude a "scoop" call which makes it real hard.

In my estimation, a lot of the jumps you see on the pro circuit are illegal. Id like to see some slo-mo of them.

Yes, that was my thinking. I didn't want to be called for scooping whn I leave my porch and go out in the real world. I'd like to see a lot of them in slo-mo on the pro tour too. My problem is I'm short with short fingers, (big feet and nose tho...so don't start) which makes it harder to jump IMO. Johnnyt

That was exactly my problem too, I was taught incorrectly to hit at the center of the QB as it appears from where you're standing, way above it. But you're hitting at the equator, like the center of the ball if you had your chin resting on the table.

I don't care how many people wanna say it screws up the purity of the game, it feels great to drill in a long jump and watch the CB draw back to get position, and it ain't all that easy. The right cue makes a huge difference.

This may help with short fingers...

You can attain a higher bridge hand for jumping if you lay your index finger on top of your middle finger for bridging....you will gain another 1/2 inch by doing this...The tripod of this bridge hand is your pinky and and ring finger and middle finger with index layed on top of it....

You can still bridge very firmly with just your ring finger and middle finger with again index finger layed on top middle finger for jump bridge hand...also remember to make a good "V" with your thumb next to up against where your index finger meets your palm....

good luck..

Mr. J.

Feels wierd, but will try it, thank you. Johnnyt

That's not the first time you have said that huh? :D:D:D:D:D

BVal <---- is just kidding. hopes he doesn't end up killed :)

LMAO. I guess I could have answered that a little different now that I read it back. Johnnyt

JohnnyT,

I assume you're using a jump cue, so you may be underestimating yourself.

From my own recent experience, I thought the same. Using the film mode on a digital camera to capture my shot, then using slow motion mode in Windows Media Player, I was able to verify that the ball was jumping. It happens so briefly, like 2 frames or 1/12 of a second you may not notice it.

Thank you all on here that tried to help me jump. I did get the ball up in the air a few inches, but very rarely over a full ball.

The most surprising thing for me when I learned to jump was how little follow-through and force was needed to make whitey jump. I started being able to dart jump over 3-5 balls after I realised I was hitting it too hard and following through too much.

Jumping is cool now, since I can do it now too. Not that hard when I got the hang of it. Yes I use a jump cue. You are right, at first I didn't think I was getting off the table until I put a butt of a cue in front of QB. Johnnyt
