I recently got two humorous theme gambler
cues from Paul and Ellen

it was such a thrill seeing the humorous scenes inlaid into the cue
so intricate and beautiful

I designed the theme and Paul took it from there
I can not imagine anyone else doing something like this

The inlays wrap around the cue and cannot be seen in
pictures even if I could take pictures

If you want something really different ,I recommend
PFD,Paul Drexler

Dean Campbell

I remember getting an ivory wrap cue from him
at a show in Las Vegas,it had Blue Veneers extendin
y joint, setting a record for longest points ever

I had waited about a year and when I got the cue
it actually brought tears to my eyes

I tell you how nice that cue was,Rick Landurg
of Best Billiards in Orange County ran me down and
bought the cue before I could put it in a case

That was about 15 or 20 years ago and Rick still has the cue
I had bought many Ivory Wrap cues from all the great cue makers
but thet never looked as well balanced as that one

I think Paul or probably Ellen has a artistic streak

Once I traded Paul something for 7 cues, when the first one arrived
it was so very beautiful that I sold it to a very happy customer
and sent Paul half the money because I thought he had
put too much into the cue

Honest story, and you guys know me

Nice story Dean, thanx for sharing.

Yes, Paul & Ellen are a marvelous team.

When I purchased my 1st cue from Paul (did I say 1st? I've only purchased 1 so far. Hmmm), I thought for sure it would go home and be directly deposited in the Whitten case that houses my collector cues & go right into the safe.

But then Paul kept asking me "How does the cue hit?" "How does the cue play?" "Do you like playing with the cue?"

I had hit a few balls without chalking the tip, but past that I didn't want to lie to the man so I took the cue out, swallowed the lump in my throat and applied chalk to the virgin Kamui tip. After playing with the cue for what was supposed to be only a few minutes, there was no way it wasn't going to be my daily player.

Paul & Ellen make beautiful art, yes, absolutely true. But they also make cues that play amazingly well too.
I think some can be so blinded by the beauty of their cues that they forget the engineering science & 25+ years of experience that goes into the supreme performance & play-ability of their cues. -Z-
