My wife gets trapped in practice stroke hell whenever she breaks. She tells me that she just can't pull the trigger until "it feels right". No joke, she will take 50 or more (rapid-fire) practice strokes and think nothing of it. She looks like she is trying to saw a rut in the rail.
She gets really mad when I start counting just for fun.
PK,
I timed one of these episodes, and after she got down on the ball; she stroked rapid-fire for an additional one and a half minutes before pulling the trigger (if you are down on the shot within 20 seconds, then you have as long as you want to stroke). That was a LONG match, very painful to watch.
P.S. - on the "minute and a half" shot, she missed the ball.
Are you serious about the 20 seconds and then as long as you like? And people wonder why audiences don't flock to watch pool on TV????
Hell, I love the game of pool, and I enjoy watching it, but this is rediculous....I'm surprised a live audience, or even the tournament director, would put up with this without some "noise" of sorts...
This thread makes me think of Dan Christian, a player that use to play in Miami back in the 80s. That guy took more practice strokes than anyone I have ever seen.
