The Benifits of changing rooms

For quite a few years i have played in a room, which i called home. since then the room had undergone an owner change, and many things were different. Besides that you get caught up in all the room politics and B.S., which all makes it very hard to focus on your game. Especially when you have taken a leave of absence from it and are trying to get back in stroke...

As of late i have changed rooms, i am fortunate to have another room to shoot in which is still in close proximity to my house.

What i have noticeed is that i am able once again to concentrate on the game, and stay focussed and in tune to what i am doing!

this may all change in time, once i get over the novelty of shooting somewhere else. But for now i am loving it!

I suggest all you guys trying it out ! it is very rewarding...

Have any others ever tried this and what was your success rate?

It's good to change it up sometimes. Gets your focus back on the fundamentals. Good mechanics allow you to execute what you know.

I play in the same room daily, it is my practice place, and try to get out weekly to play a small tournament. Sadly many of the Bars, Sports Bars, and Rooms that once hosed weekly, or a monthly tournaments in the Valley of the Sun have closed, gone to league play only in lu of tournaments, or just stopped having tournaments all together because of the economy.

Another benefit (potentially) is all the new action. If you can get a bead on a number of the new hall's players' speed, you might just do pretty good. I think you'd want to start easy out of the gates though and not spoil the entire pool of fish by knocking your action!

I concur, but only have one room within striking distance that's not just a bar with pool tables. I don't get out much now, due to being unemployed and it's too far to go to Greenville, SC to the Palace.
When I lived in Binghamton, NY, we had three rooms in the Binghamton-Endicott area.

I like playing at multiple places that way I can see different people play and hopefully learn from what they do right and wrong. Its also a good thing because you will be able to adjust to table speed and room conditions when you play in a foreign place much faster.

I am about to do the same thing - change "home" rooms that is. Not only for reasons of politics, BS, etc. - won't even get into details about that - but also to play against stronger competition which tend to hang out at the other room, and as you mention refocus my game. Unfortunately current room is 5 minutes from house, new room is 30 minutes from house, but I've made that drive before and will again if necessary. I won't write off the current room entirely, just think I'll be making that drive more often...
