i dunno if anyone covered new york, so here it goes, here is a thourough list of the top players out of new york. a long time ago irving crane. mike sigel. anyhow right now. george metz, a strong knowledgable player, who has a smooth, almost but not quite slip stroke. paris. yes friends he goes under one name only, PARIS. a master of the bar tables, he has been banned at every bar tournament! he is perhaps, the greatest bar table player in the history of new york. john walsh, a semi-pro from suffolk county new york, he's been known to string 9-ball racks together, real fast like. joe cutler, he came in 3rd. at the A.P.A. event in the country! a very, very strong player, who is now known throughout the nation, for this feat. nicky schulman, a 19 year old kid, who can run 100 balls in straight pool. steve lipsky, a very smart straight pool player. george san souci, a washed out pro, who could still play better than most great players in new york. frankie hernandez, a semi-pro, with a big loud mouth, who could string together racks easily. scot nokowsky, now, he is defunked to playing golf on a 5x10. but in the late 80's and early 90's he was the greatest 9-ball player in the world! he was a shotmakers, shotmaker!!! he made corey dueul look blind! bernie friend, a brilliant 8-ball player, who never ever makes a move without figuring out the entire situation. mika immonen, the best player in new york, by far, however, is he really FROM new york? not! tom walter a very, very incredible straight pool player, who will run you blind. danny barouty, a cocky, hard to get along with genius of straight pool. this cat, can run 75 within 10 mins! fast and confident, danny has a high run of 287. last but not least is in my opinion the best player in new york, who is FROM new york. tony robles. he is a gem! an all around cueiest, who can beat anyone in the nation at any time. his specialty is straight pool, but he will feel comfterable in beating anyone in anything they choose. so there you have it. two little extra notes, the best snooker player in all of new york is raymond fung, originally from hong kong. he runs half centurys, like there going out of style! and the best 3-cushion player in new york, maybe not FROM new york is mike kang owner of carom cafe billiards in flushing n.y. he can run 15 and out!

I would add to that list Tony "Flaco" Rodriguez, he
plays all games great - 14.1, 9ball, one pocket, last
pocket 8 ball, he's also incredible playing one-handed.
You also have Jonathan Smith who plays roughly
Steve Lipsky's speed although I give Steve the edge.
Joey Korsiak plays pretty sporty too.

Shouldn't Mike Zuglan make this list. A number of years ago before the start of a tournament in Massachusetts, I watched Mike play in a ring game for $25 a player with about 6 players. He ran at least 4 racks before the tournament director interrupted his run clearing easily $500. The tournament winner probably made about the same amount of money, but Mike did it in 15 minutes and who knows how far the string of racks might have gone if not interrupted. He gets a nod from me.

Mike Zuglan has always been a tough competitor and a straight-shooting son of a biscuit. He keeps the Joss Tour going strong, and I can't wait for the $25,000 Joss Tour final coming up in Maine, thanks to Mike.

If we're talking about New York, we can't forget this guy. If not for his shooting, his break alone gives me nightmares. Meet Frankie Hernandez!

It's always a pleasure running into my little buddy, Ryan McCreesh. New York's loss is Maryland's gain. He's not only a tough competitor, but I like having him on my team. He's been a good luck charm for me. ;)

What about Gene Nagey? I hear that he was the best in 14.1 in the whole state of Ny .And he taught Jen Lee the game ...The old school players or new school would never like to play this guy...some of nothinhg .But hates 9 ball, he said it was to easy..

Danny Barouty

Wait Bernie, Danny Barouty is one of the nicest guys out there in NY. I met him on the east side at Amsterdam and was very nice and sociable to me a stranger from out of town. Every time I see him he always says hello and plays always in a professional manner. He runs balls like crazy and has an excellent grasp of the game. I dont know how you could say those negative things about him.

mika immonen lives in NYC, would that count? :D

gold

I'm not sure Mika still as a residence here, if he does
it almost doesn't matter as he's hardly ever here.

Someone else mentioned Johnny Ervolino, He hasn't
lived in NY in about 30 years, although he visits
regularly. He's currently lving in Vegas.

Bernie,

You, like so many people here and around the world, feel that NYC is the center of the universe. Send any of the people you mentioned to Rochester. Ron "Julio" Casanzio would love to play some ten ball or one pocket. If you see any of those folks, ask them about Julio. They know him. Why don't you? I posted a list on the "best of your state". I agree that Tony Robles should be on it. I believe both Flacco and Dan Barouty live in NJ. The velvet fog that is now Mr Ervolino lives in Vegas. Mika resides part time in NY, in Finland and in Manila. I didn't mention Dennis Hatch on my list because he hasn't played competatively in several years. Want to play him some? I doubt anyone on my list or yours would like it! Keith also mentioned Mike Zuglan and Frankie Hernandez. He left off Ian Costello. Perhaps he does not know him. Ryan moved to Maryland a couple of years ago. Sorry to be so curse but us "Upstaters" are very testy about NYC!

Excuse me deadstroke,

Where did you get all that from??? I think you got the wrong post to complain about. Danny plays just fine. I've known him for years. He doesn't like to play my friend "Julio", never did. I've played Danny twice in the past year. He won both times 9 - 8.

I have played for over forty years. No one has ever called me a "nobody" before. I've played virtually every big name player. Sometimes I've won, sometimes I've lost. A "nobody"? I don't think so! Perhaps we should get together sometime? As I rarely travel down to the deep south, perhaps next year at the DCC.

If you did respond to the correct post, please re-read my comments directed to Silencer. If you see disrespect to Danny, get new glasses. If you responded to the wrong post, apology accepted.

Looks like Mike Zuglan proved to be a top pick. He just won the latest Joss Tour Event. Congrats Mike!
