It's made to stand, but there is no reason it could not be affixed to a wall. Some of the pieces would overlap though. When it's standing, the pieces are not all on the same plane. The largest is in back, and other pieces set up in front of that.

I guess you could put all the pieces up on a wall. I don't see why not. You just would have to be creative in how you lay it out.
 
This is the last day on this one. Someone just PM'd me and informed me that if I put this on a movie lover's forum it might bring 1K or more. Too late now.
