Just my 2cts about the format :
4 players ( w1 w2 w3 w4) finish 1st place in each group to the winner bracket
4 players ( l1 l2 l3 l4 ) finish 2nd place to the loser bracket
Then l1 vs l2 , the winner goes to play the loser of w3 vs w4 ...And so on

You get the idea, I think it's more interesting and more drama this way, the 1st in each group still get huge advantage but we leave a chance for the 2nd finisher in the groupstage to come back and win. All and all, not easy to have this field of player, so the more matches we have the better.

Just my 2cts :)

I think I kind of get the idea. So what you want to do is take the people that failed to win their own division and match them up then if they win they get to play the loser of a winners match and then if they win that I would assume they play the winner of a match just like the one that they played in and if they win that they play the person that lost the hill and if they win that then they play in the finals?

I think that is what you are trying to say. Either way not really a fan. I feel that if you are not good enough to win your group then what right have you earned to have a chance at the championship. You already had a shot at the championship and you failed then so why reward that?

Can't see wood for trees - but I've always been a simple soul

Unfortunately Alex is not in the mix. I guess he's busy playing poker :p.

Another 2ct :), I'd prefer having Lee Van Corteza and Ronnie Alcano instead of Kiamco and Efren. Efren is my idol but the sadly truth is that he isn't there anymore competing at the highest level. Kiamo tends to choke too often in big match against the bests. Alcano maybe a questionable choice but how the hell Lee Van is not there...
And Wu Chia Ching also :), maybe he's being forgotten now. What a waste.
The 4 from Taiwan are absolute monsters ( look out for Ko Phing Chung ) but shouldn't it be 4 ASIAN players ? I mean Asian = Taiwan ? How's about Akagariyama or Lo Li Wen ?
What's your opinion ?

Did you ever think that maybe WU, Lee Van and perhaps Ronnie were asked and may have other plans or things to attend to? I'm sure they were asked in front of Kiamco.
I'm not sure that's the case, but just a thought.

Maybe you are right, I also thought about that. Anyway, it's unfortunate not having them. And I forgot to mention Carlo Biado

Thanks

Asia is a continent comprised of multiple countries.

One of which is Taiwan.

Good to see you still sticking around and discussing things Ozzy.

Don't take disagreement on particular things within the sport personally. You obviously love this sport and are trying to do things you think will make it better. Just keep in mind there are hundreds of people on AZB that have decades invested into this sport, its past successes and failures and our collective hopes for a brighter future. We might not all agree how to get to that future but we all ultimately want the same thing.

Personally, I love this format. It reminds me a lot of what they do in curling bonspiels.

In a round robin if you end up with SVB and Ko or Dennis and Chang in the same round robin bracket I like that those two players can both still make it to the final if they happen to be the two strongest players that week. If you cannot win the event but for being 1st in your bracket it makes it a crappy thing when the two best players that week end up in the same bracket and one guy has to bow out early as a result.

I cannot wait to see the 8-ball event especially.

Awesome event like a mini world championship
Will definitely watch since it is after the World Cup
Though would have liked for 2nd round to be top 2 players from each group so last 8 in single Eli instead of only 1 player from each group
Also would have liked Alcano and lee van instead of Kiamco
And I expect that little kid Ko Ping Chung to shock and win either 8b or 10b. These guys will make mistake of thinking they are playing a baby :)
