The day you became a player!

It was a Sunday 8 ball tournament at City Lights Billiards in Tacoma, WA. I had practiced 12 hours a day for the last month solid.

One of the locals at the hall said my next opponent had been an @55, and asked me to beat the guy for him. Now that in itself showed I was getting a reputation amongst the locals, that I could be relied on to beat someone I never met, and I took that as a compliment.

It was a race to 3, and we lagged for the break. He lost the lag by a whisker.

I broke and ran three racks of 8 ball on him. He never got a shot past the lag. This was on 9 foot Gold Crowns. Two racks were normal runouts. The third rack I got out of position on a bank shot needed to get all the way out. I got on a double kiss angle. Out of nowhere I pulled a triple cross side bank out of my hat. I had never practiced the shot. And got out.

He told me I was a very good player, and shook my hand.

It was one of my proudest moments as a player. I knew I had respect from the local playersin my hall, but to be acknowledged by a visiting player was icing on the cake.

I'll be back to that level of play soon after I get back from Iraq...

Beware.....

BEWARE John's "Bar Tables."

The first time I played on his bar table, it had tripple shimmed pockets or something.

The next time I played on one of John's bar tables it had a fluorescent strobe light traveling circus or some such thing imprinted on the cloth.

So anyone who can makes balls on one of JB's bar tables would own a normal big table.....

Then you own them all Mike because if I remember right you beat me on both of those tables. :-)

I book a winner against you one of these years.
