Haven't seen it before now. But, if I am reading his diagram correctly, he is stating that all cut shots up to about seventy degrees are half ball hits. That's simply not true, so there must be more to it than that.
This comes from a conceptualization that Dom Esposito, The Drill Instructor had It is a different way of identifying and sighting on back-of-ball aiming. It is not diagramming half-ball hits.
I'm aware that different players respond to different visualizations and conceptions, I've tested Dom's system and it is accurate.
Thanks, Spider.
I find it's an interesting way for someone to "see" back-of-ball via the pivoting action you wrote about.
I would say--works fairly objectively to find back-of-ball. Subjectivity has to play a part in any aiming system, especially if the player doesn't know what things like squirt and throw are and how to adjust.
Thanks again.
What tells you that?I would say--works fairly objectively to find back-of-ball.
I would say--works fairly objectively to find back-of-ball.
1. Objective in that if you do as directed you reach back-of-ball. The qualifier word is "fairly" in terms of "one must use one's eyes and brain". (I also say objective because the back-of-ball point is a geometric point that is easily plotted and discovered.)
I'm not familiar with his method but I certainly am with ALL the other pivot systems and I think you've given a very fair and intelligent assessment even with the short amount of time you worked with it. Sounds good to me and you may even feel more objectivity the longer you worked with it and it became ingrained to see everything more acutely.
But it doesn't mean you're free and clear. I could name the naysayers who will say you're full of crap either directly or in so many words with their incessant wordsmithing questions in an attempt to trap you or spin it. But I think you know who they are or will find out when they start posting to your experience.
2. The shift is to center ball.
you can place a ball up to a 70-degree cut angle where you like and Dom is 9 for 10 using this system--blanket over the ball and pocket both--Houle-style! [/QUOTE said:Now you went and did it!! ALL of the anti-CTE "whack jobs" will be slithering out of the woodwork with this claim!!
On second thought, no they won't. All they care about is CTE. They didn't even dare touch 90/90 nor will they go after this.
I'm thinking that maybe the bossman around here has cooled the heels of some of the most vicious ones and they're laying low after being disciplined. Now you went and did it!! ALL of the anti-CTE "whack jobs" will be slithering out of the woodwork with this claim!!

That remains to be seen, but it looks like a blessing to me.
