The elusive Mac Attack

Finally found one!
Hits just like I remember from 20 years ago or so.
Cue was unused for years, had one little ding on the butt.

I would have preferred 13mm, but it seems most were around 12.7 or 12.8 with the kind of taper he put on them.

There's a reason these are hard to find.

I didn't want to pay 2k in order to get one of the fancier cues, and it's been a couple years tracking one of these down.

They really play great.

Owners will sell, but are wanting a kabillion dollars for them, so I havent bought any of them.

Ken

That is a great find. Hit one way back when, and I had no clue what it was.

12.7 is a perfect fit for me, and the taper was perfect.

Did you get the "Monster" or "Hits a Ton" Model?

Yeah, there's a reason you don't see them for sale often. Great find, enjoy it.

Was there a "hits like a ton of monsters" model?
I think that's the one I got....

Bill McDaniel. ..retired almost 10 years back. Made great cues , hugely underrated. His Szamboti was quoted as saying Bill's cues played second only to his.

Do they still make them?
I would like a couple if they do.

Long gone my friend.

Hens Teeth are more common.

McDaniel, probably one of the most under rated cuemakers.

I always hated his cues with floating points, but he also made some incredible cues.

Tip for my AZ brothers, if you get a chance at McDaniel cue at a reasonable price, look at it very seriously.

Ken

I agree with Ken , the floating point cues do nothing for me.
Passed on a couple, but I'm sure they play just as well.

Picked this up from a gentleman in Owensboro who is friends with Ray Schulz and Nick Varner. Supposedly was one of several McDaniels cues that Nick got from him. No provenance of course, but Nick did play Bill's cues, as did several top pro's in the 90's.

The current owner had loaned it to Ray while his new Tascarella was being completed.

I think I'm already playing a ball better

Congrats on your find.

I just found an ebony Mac Attack with the plastic joint and two shafts. I couldn't pass it up. I own a couple others and have a pretty good idea how it will play.

Nice....if you have too many shafts, I'd be interested in one of those mcD's if it's around 13mm.....just sayin!

Here is another MacAttack :)

I think I had one at one point

Great cues.

FWIW--Piloted ivory joint McDaniel cues are really amazing.

Once upon a time I had a MacAttack with inlays at the bottom of each of the points where the cocobolo meets the BEM... they were small white dots with the silver ring around them. That cue was stolen and found destroyed by the idiots that took it.

I cried.

I have yet to see another like it... not even a picture of one. I'm sure they exist, but I don't think Bill made too many of them.
