Yeah me too on the spitting thing- I once made a guy stop eating sunflower seeds in my car as after each one of course he'd spit the husk in a bag he was holding. Just grossed me out. He thought I was nuts and maybe i am.:)
 
I think you guys are all missing the points. It's supposed to be an allegory about the state of men's Pro Pool in the USA today; Scott represents the players, trying to take everything very seriously. The garbage bag represents the IPT, unable to even afford to pay for a professional haircut despite it grand ideals.

Or something like that ;-)
