It cracks me up when I see people who just bought a cue and then come on here and sell it. Everyone always says its the greatest hitting cue I have ever played with but it must go??? If its the greatest hitting cue why not keep it and sell another cue you have?? Are they all the greatest hitting cues?? If you go back and look at peoples post say they have sold 5 cues in all thier descriptions of each cue is "the greatest hitting cue I have ever played with but it must go my "collection" is too big and I gotta get rid of some cues" funny part is they just bought the cue a week before. QUIT SAYING its the greatest hitting cue IF IT WAS THERE WOULD BE NO WAY IN HELL THAT YOU WOULD EVER SELL THE CUE!

This is not directed at any one person I dont want a moderator or anyone else thinking this is to one person its to a bunch of people who keep saying its the greatest hitting cue.

By the way my espiritu/schick/scruggs/parrot/frey/szamboti/Black Boar and Hercek are the greatest hitting cues which is why I would never sell any of them.

Of course I dont have the szamboti or hercek yet but when I do I am sure they will have the greatest hit I have ever played with! :)

I have at least 5 cues that are the "greatest hitting cue." How can you have them if I have them!! However - I am still looking to find and purchase the "All Time Greatest Hitting Cue Ever!":)

Nice dauschunds (sp?)!!

I have this Viking. It it the best hitting cue ever. It plays so well. Believe it or not it plays better than a Meucci, the best cues in the world. I will let it go for $7500. lol

You cant have the all time greatest hitting cue because that should be arriving to me in a couple days! I also have the greatest cue case in the world! It makes the greatest sound when you snap it shut no other case sounds like the one I have!

well partly a daschound (sp) the dark brown is a dashound mixed with a hound dog I think cant remember. The light brown one is a corgi mixed with a beagle well thats what the vet told us!

Meucci now thats funny!

You all must be joking.....The best hitting cue is undisputedly a house cue......I hit this guy with one and it only cost me $15 to replace it.

hey- ive seen a guy play with a broom and win...
maybe he's onto something with it's hit, maybe it hits better than my SW-less deflection I'm sure.... :-)

I think he swept the backroom too after he played....

On the serious side of this issue. I think people really believe many of their new cues are the best hitting cue they ever felt up to that point. But then later get rid of it for a new "best playing cue ever". Here is why I think it is so. It is based on the old "rob Peter to pay Paul principal."
Someone gets a new cue and it produces more draw or follow than any cue they ever owned. This new hit makes them feel like they play so much better. Then they start over drawing the ball too much and pick up another tamer hitting cue that produces "just the right amount" of draw and follow and now they have the newest "best hitting cue ever." Well after a while they start to notice this cue deflects a little more than they like and they are missing more shots with it, even though their position play is a little better. So they get another "best playing cue ever." This goes on and on for a life time because it is always give and take in the hit of a cue. People tend to focus on what is special about a cues hit, or what is missing from the cues hit. I believe all great playing cues have both elements: something special and something missing. That is why a player can love a cue at first and hate it later. It is also why a player can hate a cue at first and then love it later. I say keep on looking for that "best playing cue" because that is why we sell so many cues.

Although it may be hard to believe - I stopped at pawn shop on the way home from the veterinarian (had to take our daschhound (sp)in for obedience training) and found this cue, paid $11 for it, took it home and it has to be the greatest hitting cue I have ever played with ............ no really!! There are no markings on it (but its probably a Paradise or Rambow or Szamboti or something like that) so I decided to call it a "Weiner" - in commemoration to my trip to the veterinarian. I'm sure by the end of the weekend - I'll have found a better hitting cue - so I'll put my "Weiner" on Ebay.

I'm all about Meucci bashing, but my wife has a rosewood, ivory jointed, plain jane origional from the 80's that I ran 60 with the other night, and it plays real sweet!........shhhhhhhh don't tell her I took it out of her case;) she'll kill me

I agree with all you guys maintioned above, but I think "sometimes", the greatest hitting cue isn't always nice looking cues, and for some people (like myself), the look of a cue is almost as important as its hitting performance.. I would sell a cue that i think it's the best hitting cue, but probably wouldn't sell a cue that has best LOOKING!!

While Meucci gets a bad rap from time to time deserved and not deserved, who can argue with the fact that both Buddy Hall and Cliff Joyner play with one on a regular basis? If they wanted to play with another cue maker's cue, they would have it.

People in Business, or in the Business, Hobby, or Side line of Pool are like those who Write, Produce, and Make the Great Commercials like seen on Super Bowl Sunday.

Good ads, and ad copy sells stuff. One of my favorite seller because of his wordy ads about Cues & Billiard Supplies is IndyQ, as the guy does some great thing with the wording of his ads.

Chris,
I agree, but as the original poster alluded to there are a few people here, small time buyers/sellers that constantly say "it's the best hitting cue they ever owned, in less than one week, its for sale. Usually they are setting up the sell. The best one though was Matt and his cue was the best hitting BEFORE it was ever tipped and finished. AND he ended up selling it a week later. I try and refrain from the best hitting cue stuff because hit is so subjective. As long as the cue hits solid, thats all that needs to be said, most the time.

Hey Flush, Is that the worst hitting cue that you ever had, that your dogs are now using as a chew-toy in their picture.....^_^

The best hitting cue ever

Is what ever you are used to. If you haven't run 10 or 12 racks IT DOSEN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK .Because you only know what helps to eleminate your short comings not what makes it easeir to bump out! If you don't play well enough to feel the cue(ball) in your hand then you really wouldn't know a axe if it were stuck in your head. And none of this means anything if you are not used to your cue. And bogie is right MR.P said a one piece hits best they do hit with a real splat and that is called a poolstick fight for real. If you ever see one you will probably laugh so hard you will soil your britches. Looks like handycapped kids pretending they are jousting but not to worry usually more noise than anything else. I saw Scottie Townsend cut a branch off a tree and use it in a big money set in Fort Walton Beach. At the time it was the only way he could get any action. It wasn't the best hitting branch but it fetched the biscuits. He sat around cutting on it with his pocket knife and after about a hour Scottie was grinding a whole piece of chalk into the wood on the end of the branch. If Scottie is selling his best hitting stick buy it!

The word hit is used here so much it's sickning. Expressions like, it hits a ton, hits like a cannon, or I never hit with one or I hit with one etc. #1 its a front trying to sell a cue. Newbys or a pool fanitac who don't really know what they want in a cue. Or # 2 They don't know what the hell their talking about.

If I want to buy a cue. All I really want to know is it a good solid cue other than the specs that I'm looking for. If you tell me it hits like a cannon, you've just lost a sale. I've owned few cues in my life. Thats because I know what I like (very few do). I'm not out looking for an instant improvement and buying cues looking for the magic bullet.

I don't know what ever happened to the word feel because that's how we play. I don't know what a cannon or a ton feels like but I suspect I'd find out what their cannon feels like if I bought into such nonsense. It might be a boat anchor for all I know.

You guys just go ahead and HIT all you want. Hit is a violent motion, it's probably what you do when you play pool.

Rod

Those who have Searing, Zylr, Hagan or Petersen cues, sell them for what you paid for them b/c they don't really hit a ton. :)
Is this a tribute to Shorty thread? LOL

The best hitting cue I seen was one off the rack. This big mama came into the bar, grabbed one off the rack and landed it across the back of her husband's head who was sitting at a table with some other heffer. It had to be a great hitting cue because she kept beating him with it and it didn't break.
