Ok I'll bite.

I would expect either Spike TV or A&E to pick it up, if it were to go to a non-sports channel. They always seem to be looking for new and interesting shows. I think it might do well on Spike.

But there is more of chance that it will get picked up Fox Sports Net or ESPN.

I'm betting my hard-earned cash on ESPN-8 - "The Ocho"!

:D

(But seriously, I agree with Cameron as far as FSN/ESPN.)

I'm more of a realist. I don't think that FSN or ESPN would pick up the IPT.

I'm guessing the Travel Channel will pick it up, considering it helped lauch the poker craze by showing the World Poker Tour about 3 or so years ago.

So I'll guess Tuesdays, 9pm EST on the Travel Channel.

Good point.

But the reason I was thinking of ESPN is that I recently heard they are going to be airing the Contender realty show. A pool reality show could be kind cool for them.

Anyone ever watch the show Pardon the Interruption on ESPN? One of my favorite shows. In the background is a set of large cardboard cutouts of major figures in sports. One of those cutouts is of Jeanette Lee, and it has always made me wonder whether ESPN has an eye toward greater involvement in pool programming.

I think Fox Sports Net is a decent shot, the same network that telecasts the WPC. Looking forward to finding out.

At the pool event televised from the ESPN zone they interviewed the programming director of ESPN and he indicated ESPN was interested in increasing it's current level of billiards coverage. But I'm going with FSN as my pick.:)

if i'm not mistaken, the ipt will not do business with a sports station from here on in. they want to put it on tv, not a sports show/station, that way pool is gonna be B I G ! a station like E! or CBS, that's gonna be the BIG news, a major station that ALL viewers watch, not just sports nuts, hey, why preach to the chior, pardon my spelling.

E!...?

Sure, they can tuck it in between "The Anna Nicole Show" and "Celebrity Pap Smears".

:/

A show on pool isn't going to become "big time" right from the get-go, I fear. It's still a very niche sport, in the grand scheme. I think they'd do well getting it on ESPN.

So exactly when are they going to reveal the channel and time schedules? From the video promo, it said it will be shown March 2006. Well, it's March 2006, and if it does show by this month, it doesn't give the channel enough time to advertise the show. The World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel aired several ads months before the first show was aired.

I was thinking the same thing.

Just an FYI for the Philippines TV

I read on another pool forum that the IPT KOTH will be broadcast on March 11th at 9:00 p.m. at RPN (Philippines) on Channel 9. The poster stated, though, that only the match between Efren Reyes and Mike Sigel in the finals will be aired and not the reality portion.

Thoughts ...

I think FSN is a real good possibility, but also ESPN-Classic might also be a
possibility since they already show quite a few billiard matches.

JAM - Welcome back, cute avatar, and we all missed ya!!!

Aw shucks, Snapshot9! :o BTW, a belated thanks for your birthday avatar. It really did bring a smile to my face! :)

I do remember hearing Kevin Trudeau speak at the players meeting at the KOTH in Orlando that he would be marketing the reality show on an international basis. It is no surprise, to me at least, that the Philippines jumped on the Sigel-versus-Reyes final to be broadcast on March 11th.

For those of us Americans who utilize a variety of cable vehicles for our TV viewing pleasure, it is not evident at this juncture WHICH channel the IPT reality series will be broadcast on. I expect to be reading an upcoming press release very shortly relating to this.

I'm now checking out AzBilliards on my brand-new AOL DSL connection. It ain't the FASTEST, but it sure does beat dial-up! :D

BTW, for all of my D.C. comrades, there is a brand-new Tuesday night weekly 9-ball tournament, $20 entry fee, being held at Galaxy Billiards in Silver Spring, MD, beginning sharply at 8:00 p.m.

There is no excuse to not stay in stroke in the D.C. metro area. For a mere $20 or $25 entry fee, check out these weekly mini tournaments:

Mondays: Bill and Billie's Cuesports in Arnold, MD, 8:00 p.m.

Tuesdays: Galaxy Billiards in Silver Spring, MD, 8:00 p.m. AND Champions [now called something else] in Laurel, MD, 8:00 p.m.

Wednesdays: Orange Ball Billiards in Rockville, MD, 8:00 p.m.

Thursdays: First Break in Sterling, VA, 8:00 p.m. [watch out for that Brandon kid (LOL)]

Sundays: Top Hat in Baltimore, MD, at 12:00 noon.

Hey Jam,

Very happy to see you back, miss your first hand coverage from the various events you & Keith attend, (I'm truly jealous). I was really pulling for Keith to win the Turning Stone Event, seems as though everyone is stepping up their game. See you guys next week at Valley Forge.

I'll meet you in the pit, Jim, with a comfortable CHAIR! This year, I am most definitely bringing my own. I remember my poor swollen feet at the end of the week last year. :o
