I have not ever been through a hurricane, but I do know that most pool players don't like to be home by 9pm. I can just imagine how frustrating it was for the locals who were in the storm and how much worse it would have been for those who would have been coming into the area. A friend told me her daughter was without power for almost 2 weeks. I was told there was a good part of the population without power and water. I'm sure all those who drove all the way to the school would have been thrilled about their motel/hotel not having power, water, ice or other amenities and then being stranded for however long it took before they could buy gasoline just to get back out of town..... Restaurants closed, etc... Hungry!
Yep. They still should have had it. Everyone would have been complaining something awful about how ridiculous it was and how they should have postponed it, because those attending were so miserable! Of course, some outsiders who didn't know how miserable it was wouldn't have a clue about what was waiting for them, or how to deal with it.
I bet their refrigerator was "packed" and due to nobody being able to find food and everyone in the area needing to be fed, they ran out of food just feeding the locals. It doesn't take a genious to figure that one out.
For anyone who thinks I'm supporting Slick Willie's in this deal, think again. I've never really cared for the place. The one in Tulsa didn't take good care of the bar tables and that just doesn't sit well with me.
However, anyone coming in from an outside town would probably have been watched extra closely, as they would not be aware of the standard procedures for the area and there's always a chance they might be looters, too. I'm sure they wouldn't have minded the police hanging around...
I really hope this situation was worked out. This sounded like a great deal and I'm sure they wouldn't have gone to all the trouble and expense to recover the tables and then cancelled, unless it was really bad.
