i don't think he was taking a shot at you billy...thanks for the info..i have seen it many of times...and would watch it tonight if i wasn't going out to play..joe

i've seen it about 20 times and i own the dvd and i'm going to watch it tonight..thanks for posting about it.you made my day.:)

Thanks for the heads up, Billy. First time I saw "The Hustler" was 1965 in a 24/7 $1 theater in San Diego; double feature with "The Cincinnati Kid". I had not seen either movie and stayed in that stupid theater almost all weekend, watching both flicks over and over. Still 2 of my favorite movies and I still watch them (I'm way over 100 times "seen 'em" for both). Anyone who has never seen "The Cincinnati Kid" with Steve McQueen and Edward G Robinson, you gotta see it; it's available at Blockbuster online.

I still love watching the Hustler,

Expecially for the pool scenes, and the story is very good too. Plus some of the lines in the movie are classics.

" You owe me money EDDIE!!!!!!! "

plus the cast of actors and actress is great.

I still can watch the Hustler over and over and not get bored with the movie.

I guess that answers the questions about the thread of who deserves to have the title, "The Cincinnati Kid". LOL

Both are great movies....

I have seen the Hustler at least a dozen times, always enjoy it.
Steve McQueen, the epitomy of Cool, is great in The Cinncinati Kid also, haven't seen it for a long time, and would like to again.

Another actor that is fun to watch sometimes is James Coburn, and catching him in Maverick as the bad guy is pretty cool too.

No, because that movie was strictly about a cardplayer. Steve McQueen did not play pool in the movie. Don Willis was "the Cincinnati Kid", who played pool, snooker, 3-cushion, gin rummy, poker, dice, ping-pong, horseshoes, a few other games...all extremely well. He gambled at everything, and rarely booked a loser.:D

Thanks Jigger. Joey, I don't know where you're at but it looks like you can catch it at 5pm or possibly 4pm today. The original posted time was for last night. I wasn't aware they were running it again this afternoon. Good looking out Jigger. ;)

I still get a kick out of the fact they actually show some three cushion billiards in the movie.

"What do I owe you?"

"12 thousand"

"Can I pay with a check"

"CASH"
