There have been some pretty good reasoning on the side of those who have been "positive" or "neutral" about the IPT's future as well. It needs to remain clear that the IPT is still the new game in town and they haven't gone away yet.
It is quite true that some of the negative predictions or speculations if you will have seemingly come true. It is just as true that there is still a lot of scenarios being put forth that are not based on factual information but are derived from past events. While it is not unreasonable to make predictions based on past events, such predictions still remain in the realm of the unknown.
So a positive and rational person looks at the what has happened and says well, let's give it some more time but protect ourselves in the meantime.
A negative and equally rational person looks at the events and says, let's be more proactive about getting what is owed and protecting ourselves for the future.
A positive but irrational person says all things work out for the good, the IPT has paid out more than it took in, don't worry be happy.
A negative but irrational person says Trudeau was filthy when he walked in he's filthy now, screw him before he screws us.
Each of these types has solid "reasoning" for their position. What it all boils down to however is what will the parties do. In the end the prinicipals on this are the players and Trudeau(the IPT). Hopefully the reality of events has inspired even the most laid back and positive players to be proactive in creating and supporting a player's union to negotiate with Trudeau and the less "complicated" promoters out there.
The IPT is a business. Either Trudeau's pockets weren't deep enough to fund it as he claimed he was going to or he didn't get the reaction that he wanted from the world as pertains to getting some income streams going. What is now part of history and open season to interpretation and analysis is the IPT's moves and Trudeau's statements to date. They do present a pretty good picture of pie-in-the-sky expectations. Looking at Trudeau's remarks from a year ago contrast with those of today it seems as though he was hit with a good dose of reality. So, indeed, were the players unfortunately. Perhaps this reality will sober them up to the fact that their future and financial well being lies in their own hands and need not be tied to the ego-fulfillment of any one person.
