The IPT is a business

There have been some pretty good reasoning on the side of those who have been "positive" or "neutral" about the IPT's future as well. It needs to remain clear that the IPT is still the new game in town and they haven't gone away yet.

It is quite true that some of the negative predictions or speculations if you will have seemingly come true. It is just as true that there is still a lot of scenarios being put forth that are not based on factual information but are derived from past events. While it is not unreasonable to make predictions based on past events, such predictions still remain in the realm of the unknown.

So a positive and rational person looks at the what has happened and says well, let's give it some more time but protect ourselves in the meantime.

A negative and equally rational person looks at the events and says, let's be more proactive about getting what is owed and protecting ourselves for the future.

A positive but irrational person says all things work out for the good, the IPT has paid out more than it took in, don't worry be happy.

A negative but irrational person says Trudeau was filthy when he walked in he's filthy now, screw him before he screws us.

Each of these types has solid "reasoning" for their position. What it all boils down to however is what will the parties do. In the end the prinicipals on this are the players and Trudeau(the IPT). Hopefully the reality of events has inspired even the most laid back and positive players to be proactive in creating and supporting a player's union to negotiate with Trudeau and the less "complicated" promoters out there.

The IPT is a business. Either Trudeau's pockets weren't deep enough to fund it as he claimed he was going to or he didn't get the reaction that he wanted from the world as pertains to getting some income streams going. What is now part of history and open season to interpretation and analysis is the IPT's moves and Trudeau's statements to date. They do present a pretty good picture of pie-in-the-sky expectations. Looking at Trudeau's remarks from a year ago contrast with those of today it seems as though he was hit with a good dose of reality. So, indeed, were the players unfortunately. Perhaps this reality will sober them up to the fact that their future and financial well being lies in their own hands and need not be tied to the ego-fulfillment of any one person.

It's not the amount of money that stands to be won that is the true attractor for viewers. It's the tension and the drama of the characters. This is why reality shows work and why they are edited to get "the reality" the producers want to show. The money is just something tangible to compete for, something that everyone understands and everyone has a different use for. The amount should be enough so that the majority of the people watching woud say wow, that's a lot. 30 years ago, that amount was say $25,000. Now 25,000 isn't a lot of money so perhaps $100,000 is the magic number and $1,000,000 is utopian to most people.

A Professional Pool Tour can be a major money making operation with smaller prize funds. It needs to be on TV consistently and have it's characters profiled so they build a fan base. Exactly the formula that works for wrestling, tennis, golf, basketball, hockey and so on. People will tune in if they can identify with the people that they are watching. If they can't they'll tune out. Put some REAL DRAMA in there and pool will get some REAL FANS, (as opposed to the hard-core, really-like-to-play- pool ones on this board.) But I ain't gonna buy or wear any Freezer Frost velvet sweats. But I'd bet there are plenty of folks out there that would....

There never was a Ho deal...

I've got something that you don't want.... the truth. I'm not going to share it because you would rather me not say negative things. You would rather those of us with knowledge of the truth be quiet because the truth has not been positive about KT. Soooo, I'll be quiet about what I know (truth) and you can go ahead and listen and believe what KT says (un-truths).

Just something to think about... Did you happen to notice that nowhere in his last announcement did KT utter Ho's name?

No, I thought it was most obvious and as usual, no explanation.

Maybe it will come accross as negative input to some. I would surely like to know the truth about it. As I always say," If you have nothing good to say about anyone, Here, come sit next to me"!!

I'd like to know "the truth". Many people claim to know it but they are just as secretive about sharing it as the IPT is. The "truth" is not negative or positive, it just is what it is.

The truth stands squarely in the middle of negative and positive. Now you can present truth or fiction with either a positive or negative "spin" but the thing you are spinning has no character other than what you give to it.

So please, out with it, the truth would be a welcome sight here.

Actually, I don't have the "truth"... I was being facetious to prove a point. (However, I did learn a little something from someone at the WPC that further confirms what logic has told us all along... there never was a Ho deal. Nor did he come close to mentioning Ho in his last announcememnt)

I have had truths and posted them here along with informing friends that are IPT players because I felt they should know the truth when it certainly wasn't forthcoming from the IPT.

My point was this... When I do learn truths, if they're not "positive" and do not shed the IPT/KT in a good light, then I should just keep them to myself?

The IPT is not a business, it is a scam brother, perpetrated by a con man who made his millions screwing those less fortunate than himself. He has been jailed and sued for it. Where have you been and what are you smoking?

I know Marcus Chamat was working a deal so he got paid in the US and his payment was held up but I talked to a friend of his yesterday and he was paid in full. The players from England got their checks late but they were all paid up. It seems like everyone should have been paid unless their was some legal problem.

Who never received their payment from Vegas????

Wayne

i dont think it is a matter of who first, but everyone who played, earned their money, regardless of which event, should HAVE ALREADY been paid in full.

rg

yes, marcus was one of them. Stefan santl another. There were five in total.

It is my understanding that marcus HAS NOT been paid, unless that happened very recently.

all the unpaid players are non-us citizens and had trusted the ipt to hold the money until their work visas were approved.

All of them, at some point decided not to wait until the paper work was completed and to my knowledge have yet to be paid.

Definitely not a scam unless KT was trying to swindle himself and you want to add dumbest scam artist to your list.

If spending more than you win to get to a tournament qualifies as being scammed then almost every poolplayer has been getting scammed at every tournament they attend.

Sorry, I was trying to ask who you thought the target or victims the scam was and how the scam was designed to accomplish this.

The reason I asked was that unless there was some secret investment cash kept by KT, which we do not know, then it seems that KT is the biggest loser here so far. All the millions of dollars spent just to cheat the players out of one tournament prize and some qualifier entries? This was the plan? It wasn't a very good one if it was.
