Surprised how rarely it gets mentioned here. I'm looking forward to attending one of the tour stops here in CT next month. The tour seems to get some great players and has been around for a while. Anyone here play in or attend their events?

We just got a flyer about the upcoming Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour event in Providence, Rhode Island, at Snooker's. I think this event will also be the annual Ocean State Championship. It usually gets a nice size field.
I read about a new tour up in the New York region which is going to be run by Tony Robles as the tournament director.
I'm not sure of all the details, like who sponsors it and where the events will be. I wish I could remember where I read it.
However, one thing for sure, pool is alive and well in New England region, and that's a good thing!

We are fortunate here on the East Coast to have such a plethora of events to attend. I've been to MANY of the regional tours on the East Coast, and each one has their own unique qualities that separates them from the rest.
The distinctive characteristics of the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour is the PAYOUT structure seems to be MORE MONEY for the winners, especially the breakdown of the prize monies for first and second place. Some regional tours payout 35 to 40 percent of the field, I think in an effort to keep folks coming back. I like the Joss' payouts better because getting a $25 check for coming in 50th, as an example, ain't going to make a dent in my expenses for entry fee and lodging if needed. So I'd rather see those smaller payouts go to the top of the field, giving the players something BIGGER to shoot for. I think the Joss breakdown is they pay out 25 percent of the field.
The BEST feature, though, of the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, in my most humble opinion, is Mike Zuglan. He shoots from the hip and doesn't display any favoritism whatsoever. Players must show up to their matches on time, or else they are forfeited. There are no exceptions for the so-called "super stars." Zuglan ensures there will always be a level playing field.
The competition on the Joss Tour is great. When pro players are in the vicinity, they usually play on the Joss Tour. You just never know who's going to show up. That's what keeps it exciting, I think, when you see the likes of Allen Hopkins, Jim Rempe, Ginky san Souci, and Dennis Hatch.
Of course, Karen Corr is the crowd favorite. She'll play on it every time she's available, as long as there's not a WPBA event going on. In fact, I heard with my own ears that Karen Corr said she likes the Joss events because it keeps her sharp and focused for the WPBA. She has a good track record on the WPBA.

Predator Northeast 9-ball Tour
Jam, you might have heard about it when Tony was interviewed by AZ Billiards during the US Open!
It's still being finalized but Tony just got Predator to confirm sponsoring the tour. The tour will start up in Jan '08 and I believe they have 11 stops confirmed in the northeast area so far.
