What really is the point though? If the SPF guys were smart they would have just laughed and ignored Rick but instead they started slinging insults at him while he just kept on being passive aggressive. For better or worse, Rick did have good points here and there.

As much as my ego can feel really good about the fact that I wont be "silenced." All that I'm doing at the end of the day is buying into my own BS (which I have definitely been guilty of).

I don't know if any of the OB guys got involved in the flame wars but one thing I appreciated about them is that they seemed to do a good job of remaining objective and being clear about their purpose on here.

Trying to have the best of both world's on a forum (advertisement and freedom discussion) just doesn't work out. So I ask, would you rather be "right" or make more money?

Royce Bunnell is definitely missed. I looked up to him as an example of professionalism. He was what I might have aspired to be.

While I have no dog in this fight English was always civil with me as are you. It begs the question who are the many, many posters English pizzed off? How many posters on this board compared percentage wise to those English pizzed off? Oh and who went to the administrators and asked that English should be banned?

Rick was trying to tell the new players not to trust information based on face value

and to experiment for themselves. Is that message easy to see with all of the other

passive aggressive BS? No, not really. Was he argumentative when he had no reason

to be and did he question physics experts and educators? Absolutely. I'm not saying

he only pissed you guys off, but who garnered the most negative attention that got into

it with him? Probably you guys because you all rallied against him (understandably so)

but instead of defending yourselves you got wrapped up in the BS and it made you

lose credibility and give it to him. Rick had nothing to lose (other than membership lol)

while you guys have a reputation on the line. If I were on a fitness forum and some

average joe was debating with a personal trainer and the personal trainer kept saying

that the other guy was a clown who didn't know d**k (not saying that's what you said,

but will use it as the core message) I probably wouldn't deal with that personal trainer

if I had any doubts whatsoever before. Its not because I think joe schmo is right but

its because the professional I want to deal with, doesn't get involved in petty internet

arguments. If that same joe blow is attacking that personal trainer then I expect him to

either ignore it or simply defend himself.

Regarding the part in red above in your post!

I did not see him contradicting "physics experts and educators" that statement gives credentials to those that have not earned them, in my opinion! I could be wrong??? But, to my knowledge his critics are not what you are describing!!!

Was he wrong for being the only one with no "Skin in the game" battling to defend the little guy searching for answers to their game problems???

He brought up problems with systems and methods! He brought up data regarding the abundant use of one system over another. He brought up VITAL information on the topic that was counter to the "Skin in the game" peanut gallery!

Out numbered and with so few caring about the topic and the outcome. He went the way of the doodoo bird on the issue.

So, the peanut gallery drowned out a critic and a threat to their business has been removed and silenced! Are we any better off??? That is for the AZBILLIARDS community to decide and the owner!

Sadly, for this to have persisted as long as it has and it having been brought up endlessly is a sad statement for the community as a whole! The people involved know they should be ashamed and have to suffer the consequences of their actions! Only time will tell if it was worth the damage to their names and reputations!

Masters in mechnical engineering, Masters in____engineering if I'm not mistaken, Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering.

I'm not talking about instructors or the laymen like me that debated with Rick.

All I know is that all three mentioned above can give me at least the 7 out and the break and have much stronger understanding of physics in general, let alone in pool than myself and 99% of the rest of he members here on AZ.
 
Regarding this guy who has been banned whose name I will not mention, has created some sort of havoc in every thread he has been involved in as of late. He is causing havoc now even though he has been banned. This alone is evidence that he is a divisive personality. I say good riddance to him. He was an incredible bore and I am sure he will continue to be so. May he only enjoy himself.....away from here please.

I disagree.

You have bought into the thought that Rick was being persecuted. Being bullied. That is completely untrue.

Apparently you weren't party to all the times he stirred up unrest in the Aiming forum. He wasn't merely being critical, he was out of line, often. He would dress it up nicely, to try and skirt the forum rules, but he was antagonizing, he was disrespectful (to Stan in particular, whether you agree with him re CTE or not) and he was the one who would hurl insults first.

Add to all that the non-stop barrage of posts, spamming any thread he was involved with....

There is room for civil discussion here. There is even room for slightly less-than-polite discussion as well. When you get PJ, Neil, Lou and JB to all feel similarly towards one poster, you know that poster has crossed the line. I could go on and list a who's who of respected AZB members who have crossed swords with Rick here. These are people who argue with each other here and have done so for a long time. Civilly (for the most part.)

Thats not bullying. There is a point where we, the regular users of this forum for a long time, need to stick together on something.

Isn't so called sticking together part of the problem? Why grown men have to reply to every post of someone they dislike, Is beyond me. In turn that person replies back to every post. Every thread gets ruined. Yeah certain people are annoying and why I rarely post anything. Shame some arguments can't be settled on a pool table. Loser is banned for whatever the bet.

Rick was simply infuriating. Never willing to budge the tiniest bit makes it difficult to have a conversation/debate. I have no problem with people who question and probe.....but when done with a firm hardline stance and unwilling to compromise discussion is futile.

I introduce people to cte all the time. I use stans materials for reference. When I say objective I was referring to the practical use of the method with a spectrum of subjectivity to objectivity. Rick was so hardline that if there was .0000001% of subjectivity in the process it made the whole method subjective. No amount of discussion could dislodge that stance. As a result exasperation was the key feeling for me.

As I sure I have made others feel at times. But Rick could spot me the rainbow and be stealing in the stubbornness category.

How many times to we see two opposite opinions agreeing to disagree and ending the debate? If the mods close a thread some get upset. That's because grown men can't agree to diagram and end a debate. They have to apparently argue until the other person agrees with them. Which basically never happens. Not to mention and someone admitted to playing devils advocate. Why, take the other side of an opionion you don't even agree with. OH yeah so you can argue on a forum. Apparently agreeing with someone takes the fun out of it.
