The McDermott is imported !!!!!

Good info on the Mcd cues but nowhere on thier site does it say this model is made in Asia. Truth in advertising. I want a 100% made in the US cue period. If it had said that it was imported i would have chosen a differant model. By not doing so i feel that i can not trust anything they say about how they make thier cues. I just don't have that warm and fuzzy feeling about them anymore.
The online retailor refunded my money this morning and also informed me that the Joss i wanted would not be availible until July 25th. This has not been a fun experiance. And yes they were honest in the E-mail as to where it was made but it seems to me that if they were not trying to hide it they would have that fact on the site. It will be intersting to see if they change that. I suspect not.
I learned something new here. I didnt now the were made outside the US either. I am sure that you will like the Joss though. And it is made here!
Start playing the lottery more often! lol

Don't bet the Arch on that, you may be very surprized later.

Take care

before i bought my McDermotts (and a star for my wife) i did about 10 min of searching online to find out that the Star's were made overseas and shipped to here .. and the others are made here ...

either way though, the final reason i ordered them. was because of the warrenty on them ... and their overall quality and customer reviews of their sticks ...

No words could be more true, and what other company offers the same warranty that they offer for the price of their cues, well in truth NONE!!

But I think the real reason you bought McDermott's cues was because the Devil made you do it, Whoops, or I should say that you made you do it!!!

Good post!!

I bought a Joss (AV25) from their website a couple months ago. Just emailed Dan and he we was very communicative and desireful to acomodate my requests (shaft diameter, butt weight, weight kit, etc.). When the cue arrived the quality was excelent and the shaft was very nice; so nice, in fact, that I had ordered an OB-1 to go with the cue and have stopped using it to use the joss shaft instead.
Things I didn't like were that they didn't accept credit cards for international orders (I live in Europe) so the wire transfer delayed the transaction a week and the fact that I think their direct prices are a little higher than online retailers.
Overall, good cue, good communication and fair price.

I can't comment on McDermott since I have never dealt with them. I am sure they are fine too.

I'm thinking about a basic Perchauer now. Doesn't have a lot of eye candy but seems like a good quality cue. Still might go with a Joss.
Opinions ?

I would go with Perchauer, they are definately American made;), I also do business with that company and they are great to deal with if you have any issues.

Just my thoughts

why nobody goes with Viking? I think thats a great idea: they are made in US and there are very interesting and not very expencive models.I think it could be very reasonable choice...

Asian made cues are Ok in my book, we live in a global economy. as long as its a good cue, i'm good. McD is a good company.

This isn't meant to confuse you even more, BUT -

I've owned both Joss (2 of em), and multiple McDermotts, and not all that long ago deicded to try something different. Long story short, the 2 I narrowed it down to were Pechauer and Jacoby. While I'm sure I would have no problems playing with the Pechauer, I decided to go with the Jacoby, and have been more than happy with my cue and my dealings with the folks at Jacoby!!! Jacoby has me as a customer for life (you can look through my previous threads to understand why). And, take a look at my cue in my sig. LOVE IT, and wouldn't hesitate at getting another when I decide I need another cue

Danktrees has one in the for sale section that is an amazing deal!!! - http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=146034&highlight=jacoby

I shouldn't point you that way (since I'd love to have that one)...but, you'd be getting a GREAT cue for a GREAT price like I did, and I wouldn't want to deny you that either :D
