The Meucci

Great story as usual Lou.
I just happen to have a pound of black nylon wrap sitting around doing nothing at the moment.

Edit. Checked the label. It says to be used exclusively on Meucci cues.

Thanks Mr. Blue Hog. I'll think about it. But somehow, in a sick kinda way, it's cool to just have it sitting in the closet saying, "Come on. I dare ya."

I've still got an old Meucci too, Lou. I've told the story on here several times about how my ownership of it came about, so I won't tell it here again. Nowdays, it just sits in the basement on a shelf. I had given it to my wife, but have only been able to get her to play a handful of games in the last 25 years.:o:(

Neil -- I think we've all had our special Meucci moment. Cool that you still have yours.

Every time I read one of Lou's stories, I can almost close my eyes and imagine the narrator from The Dukes of Hazzard telling the story about the Meucci and how them boys will get Boss Hogg someday with that nylon wrap.... just as Daisy Duke bends over for a shot on the adjacent table.... and Uncle Jesse jumps the General Lee over a broken bridge and throws the $25 cue into the creek while screaming, "Wooo eeee!"

Great story, Lou.

lol, never watched TDoH, but I think I know what you mean. I have a good friend who says some of what I write reminds him of Anthony Bourdain -- the "No Reservations" guy on the Food Network.

Thanks, Spider.

Another great story Lou. I am amazed at how many great story tellers there are who frequent this forum.
Several of you should get together and write a book.
Not that each of you could not do it individually.
I just think the different styles would make for a better package.

Thanks, Collector.

Lou;

Gifted writer; that you are.

It was a very enjoyable read.

And contained within your story is perhaps the funniest line on AZ, EVA! :D

Thanks for sharing.

Best,
Brian kc <------whose first custom was a great playing mew-chee.

Thanks, Kickin'

just one funniest line of all time?!
I kid, I kid

Good story, but I have one correction.

The "Brunswick" cue given to players in Dayton was a Viking. I still have mine.

Thanks for the great story Lou. You might want to keep an eye out for the nylon always good to have an arrow ready.

Was it really?! Does yours have the black joint? Also: what color is the wrap. I want to say mine was red with black flecks but I can't remember.

And thanks.

Thanks Lou

Lou...You know I never had a chance to Thank You and the "Mrs." for making the trip to Chicago for the tournament. You know I always like to see your smiling face. As far as your "black nylon" story, I was going through a black nylon issue at about the same time in my life BUT there were "Seams" in them and they were attached to a girl. Well, I'll fill you in on the rest next time I see you (out of the "Mrs."... yours and MINE earshot of course). "Monsignor Lavin"

lol, thank you Monsignor. But of course it was our pleasure to go to such a great room as Red Shoes.

I await the earliest opportunity to listen to the tale of the Black Nylons.

For those of you who don' know, Monsignor Lavin and I held "vespers" for several years, always conducted each year during the US 1Pocket Open, in Kalamazoo, at the Church of The Mermaid (a local topless joint). You might be surprised who attended :-)

oh wow.

THAT brought back some memories and is indeed the brochure I mentioned in the story. Thanks for sharing that, Murph!

Lou Figueroa
My pleasure, I got my first Meucci just about a year ago. I now have 30 Meucci Originals. Got this brochure above yesterday, and have a smattering of old Meucci stuff. I'm hooked I tell ya.

Thank you Lou for bringing back a bunch of memories from the Garden City Open or the State 9 ball tournament I played in it once as well in the mid 80's

I never personally met Mike " Chewy " or played against him but have Lance and Jerry , Frank McGown and I were good friends as well .
Many colourful characters back in those days !
