The most common shark

No kidding... I'm laughing my ass off. A physical shark including visual distractions and sound distractions can be hard to fade but the mental masturbation being described here is more self inflicted injury than anything else.

If this stuff gets to you consider yourself shark bait

The classic mental sharks like slow play and non stop trash talking haven't even been mentioned

that's the point here. if folks let little things like the ones mentioned here get under their skin. they are not mentally tough..

We've got a guy around here that will do anything to win. One of his shark moves is to stand in your line of aim take a quarter and flip in up continually. The moment he feels your ready to pull the trigger he will flip it up and out towards the table and lunge for it. He has been warned of his tactics. This is just one of many he has

If it happens more than once or twice, I tend to ask the opposing player if they are conceding. "You're not? Ok, then sit down and pipe down."

This happened to me a few weeks ago, playing a league match against a friend of mine. I would get to the 8, and he'd say "good game", and of course I'd miss....

I'm not certain if he was doing it intentionally, we're buddies, and we have a good time even during league matches, keeping it pretty light. I didn't let him know it annoyed me at the time, but I mentioned it to a mutual friend. He gave me the same advice, ask him if he's conceding.

Next time we played, I was ready, and he didn't do it. I wonder if someone mentioned it to him. I'm ready for it, regardless.

(Yes, it is a weakness on my part. I'm my own worst enemy. I'm working on it!)

The only sharks that really succeed with me are if someone bumps into me or goes out of their way to visually distract me while I'm shooting. When I was a kid a buddy used to bump the cue sometimes on my backstroke. To counter that I developed a pause in my backstroke which I still have today and the pause helps my game. That shark improved my game.

The rattle the change in my pocket and stand in front of the pocket the money ball is going in. This has been a favorite, or stand in front of the pocket or in your side view on a hard shot as they chalk their stick so graciously waiting for you to either make a great shot or fail miserably is another one.

Good Anti-shark Move

A good anti-shark move is to walk over punch them in their nose. After that they can't make a shot for anything. ;)
