The Most Powerful Stroke, Past & Present...???

Surprised to see Buddy Hall mentioned here....my favorite stroke....
...but it wasn't powerful, it was sweet...like The Miz.

Now Billy Johnson, there was a powerful stroke.

......Wade Crane wasn't bad, either.....

it's tough to tell between johnson and crane.

and they both had those monster breaks, as well... :grin-square:

SVB stopped in the poolroom last week and took up residence on a triple shimmed gold crown. Man can he fire a ball into a tight pocket!

A power stroke of yesterday is a little different than a power stroke of today.

Hard enough for me to pot balls when playing center ball at pocket speed and for many, yes, me included, adding power and stroke and draw, or follow or side spin all present added challenges to maintaining accuracy.

I'm amazed watching some players who can stay accurate when applying monster strokes and so I was wondering who you all think possesses the biggest stroke these days and who had it in the past.

For present day, I'm going to nominate Mike Dechaine. He has earned his nickname of "Fireball" for good reason, imo.

Not sure who from the past, I know Mr. Massey had a BIG stroke when he needed it but I'm guessing there were some bigger.

Let's hear your thoughts on it...

Mike Massey. He can do things with his stroke on demand other pros can't do at all.

I want to say for the present, its SVB. The South Dakota kid keeps surprising people each time.

For the past, they called him the Rifleman for a reason - Buddy Hall

But many would swear by Efren Reyes as well, and for good reason.

I would agree with SVB and Efren, but Efren only because having a good "feel" for "touch" shots is part of having a good stroke. Efren has done some things that require a powerful stroke and some that require a perfect stroke.

I wouldn't put Buddy Hall in the category, just because Shane and Efren's strokes are so much better. Buddy had a good stroke for his era, but Efren's stroke amazed people like Buddy.

Also, we should never forget Earl the Pearl... He has an amazing stroke when he gets angry.

A while back, someone posted a story about a bunch of pros standing around a table trying to make a certain stroke shot. None of them could do it. Then, some other known name player got up out of the stands, tried it one time, made it, and went and sat back down to watch some more.

Anyone else remember that story and who it was that made the shot? I'm thinking it was Cory, but not sure.

Mike Massey has the most powerful stroke ever,
I have never seen anything like it

He was also a great pool player some years ago

He turned into a really pleasant person and gave us all years of enjoyment with trick shots
but before that ,What a player
