The (Mostly) Current LD Shaft Poll

Sorry. Dead horse and all, but since so many of these pop up all the time, why not just do a standing poll or sticky, where once about every 6 months people could ADD/Update their preference? Just one big long running poll, that would have the ability for people to edit in a new shaft that appears on the market?


I ask because I've had a few people asking about different shafts lately, and I come here to do research, but there are so many Threads to read on the same subject material. It would handy to just look up what people are liking/whats newest etc...

for now.. i'm just part of the problem I guess...

I've played for 46 yrs with English!, with high squirt regular shafts. I just this year picked up a 'juiced' turned down Predator 314 CAT, followed by an OB Classic & a McDermott I2. I sold the 314. It was great for me in tight but too much to adapt to on the long shots that I hit with english. It put doubts in my mind & thus confidence was gone. For the other two, I'm still playing with them & have come to like the I2 better but...the OB has a Kamui tip on it & that could be what is holding it back. I'm shaping the tip down gradually, just to give it, the tip, a fair shot. I miscue with it more than any other I've played with & I chalk before every shot. But I digress. The I2 hits solid, 'feels' great, & moves the ball like I want to move it. The OB hits fine & feels good, but a little dead at times. Again, that could be the tip difference. If the $30.00 Kamui does not fall in line, I then WILL cut it off & give the OB a fair comparison. I have always used & liked soft tips like Elk Master & Brunswick Blue Diamond so the Kamui SHOULD be okay with me, but, the slightly harder Everest is working better, unless the difference is the OB. Sorry this drifted into a tip thing but... the two, tip & shaft, have to fit one another. So... for now my vote goes to the I2. In fact, I'm looking for a used I3 to try. I think I might like the conical taper & smaller tip even better.

I shoot with a Tiger-X Ultra on a Meucci 97-22 leather wrap butt.

I've tried the rest and this is what I like. I don't mind deflection and squirt.

It must be part of my game since I grew up playing with a Meucci no dot shaft cue.

I played with -ob (1-2),ob classic, predator 314,314-2, z, z-2, lucasi hybrid, lucasi hybrid slim, poison dd shaft, teague The Eye shaft-bem (2,3) , g-core, Intimidator 2 and 3, meucci black and red dot, mezz wd700, players hxt, cuetec r360 , katana, Tiger x ultra, Tiger pro x..

Shafts I'd like to try include Black Boar ferruless, ss360, mezz hp2, QP Prodigy shafts, jacoby hybrid edge, T3 shaft, woodpecker ld shaft..

As it stands now ,out of all shafts I've currently tried,the
"Ghost of Megalodon" Ld shaft is my favorite. Yes it's my creation, so you could say I'm biased ,but before I even considered marketing it, I preferred it over all others I've either tried ,or are currently in my case.. :thumbup:

I like OB, and I have no objection to predator. Can't even put into words why I prefer OB.

The problem is, the other guys out there making LD shafts... it's hard to run across one of those shafts in the wild. Or maybe they're more common than I think and I'm not paying attention. But in any case I can't say I've had opportunity to try the others.

I used to love my I3/ D10 combo until I got my SS360 from Bob. I had him make me one in 11.75. I liked it a lot on my D10, until I picked up my Coker from joemuffler. I put the SS360 on the Coker and it's like a new girlfreind:thumbup:. No kidding it really feels right.


The I3/D10 doesn't feel like an old girlfreind but...
