The New Asian Tour?

I couldn't help but be encouraged by the story on the front page of AZ. I think this tour is the shot in the arm pool has been waiting for. I know the same was said of the IPT and the Camel tour, but I think this situation is different. I have read several articles that say pool is gaining greater popularity in China. I can't help but think this will translate into larger purses for the tournaments.

I was interested to see the opinions of other curious posters. Are any American pros going to get involved?

Asia seems to be ground zero for pro pool right now, with Europe in 2nd place. When the USA sent our pros to the WPC in Manila last year, no American player made it into the top 32.

Pretty amazing, considering that 9-Ball originated here.

I agree...this situation is VERY different simply by the fact that pool on TV in Asia is already strong to begin with.

You're right, this could be the start of something huge for pool. Also, making the tour true "open" events would bring in participation from Europe and America...something the current Asian Tour lacks.

Again, just like the IPT, it all boils down to TV exposure and sponsorship to sustain the tour. But unlike in America, securing TV and sponsors for pool in Asia is not an impossible feat.

in the last month there have been 3 new major sponsorship announcements and it was encouraging to me also.now i hope that we here in the states will be as fortunate and get some major sponsors to jump onboard and i predict within a years time we see a new american tour of some sort with some much larger prize money than we are seeing today.gotta be hopeful? right?

will be interesting to see which Americans will chance the travel money for those asian tournaments, I know the Europeans will
