I just watched the interview on AZBTV with Buddy and Joann Jansco, and Buddy looked remarkably fit compared to when I last saw him. He also seems to have some of his old jovial spirit back. The past few years, it seems the more weight he gained, the more cranky and angry he became. He looks like he has dropped some weight, and he made a decent showing in his 1p match with SVB. Hopefully good things are on the horizon for Buddy, I would love to see a comeback by the Rifleman.

I'd love to see a come back by Buddy also. He's always been one of my favorite players to watch and you can see how the game is supposed to be played by watching him......

I got to see him play years ago in KC Kan. The owner of the hall I worked at and Buddy were old friends. Sat and watched him play into the wee hours of the morning. I just couldn't take my eyes off that table.

And a great guy to talk too also.
 
I watched him play 4 days ago in a banks match, he was labored just getting up to the table and walking around it to rack the balls, it was just sad to see that,he must be 325-350 pounds and is having a difficult time managing to carry around his weight. He didnt look good at all, I handed him a chair over the rail to sit on, he stacks them 2 high so its easier for him to get up, I wish this wasnt the case, he is a great guy. It hurt to watch.
 
Wow, that really kills me. I just watched a match of his from the 92 Bicycle Club Invitational, Hall vs Mike Sigel. They traded the first six games back and forth, when, tied at three apiece, Buddy snapped and ran an 8 pack. It was a race to 13, and Sigel eventually got ten games, but Sigel was playing like God. He would have beaten anyone else in the world in that match, but Buddy would not be denied. It looked from the interviews like he was a little better. I had heard reports that he was up to 400 lbs at one point, so 325 is progress, right?

I saw him in Cookeville a couple of months ago and unfortunately, I "ditto" your post.

I saw him this week also, he was moving slower then ever, could hardly breathe when he walked around the table, hasn't lost any weight that I could tell, moving slow and not smiling very much.

This is said to see for me. I've known Buddy since 1979...I met him when I matched up with him by mistake when I didn't know who he was down in Florida. He has one of the sweetest strokes I've ever seen. Come on Buddy lose the wieght. If you won't do it for yourself do it for your family, friends, and the 1000's of fans that love you acoss the nation. Johnnyt
 
this is a very sad thread to read. he looks in very bad shape to me and needs to lose some weight or he's in big trouble. whenever i've seen him play recently he's just labouring around the table breathless, and doesn't look good.

it's a shame because if anybody had to emulate a top player's 9-ball game and stroke, it would be Buddy's. great break, perfect position, never has to play a hard shot, and a beautiful stroke.

i wish him the best.
