The New OB Classic shaft - Test Drive - It's HOT STUFF!

I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I haven't had a chance to read the entire thread. Is the shaft taper on the new OB Classic the same as the original OB1? I really like the old taper and would pick up the Classic in a second if the taper is the same.

Yes, it's the same taper - and I like it too. (technically a modified 16" pro taper).

Adding this edit on June 6, reviewing my original post

- after three months of play, I am really happy with this shaft. The hit on spin shots is noticibly more solid than Predator.

- The Everest tip is fully broken in and firm. I shaved it down to 3 layers showing on the side (not counting the dome) - it's perfect.

- Some players have reported the Classic has a little more squirt than the 314-2. That's probably correct due to the extra stiffness. Personally, I didn't have to make much adjustment and the squirt is manageable.

- I said the original OB shafts were "hollow" where the Classic's are solid wood. That is not exactly correct. The original OB is not actually hollow - the core is filled with a sound dampening foam.

- So far, I haven't heard anything negative about the Classic and a lot of positive.

Like I have posted in another thread, I'm very happy with the OB Classic. This is the first of the OB products I've ever used, so can't comment on the OB1 or the OB2. My personal experience with the Predator products was always a sacrifice situation. For me I had to give up the solid feel of hit, and the forward balance feel of the shaft for the reduction in deflection. With the Zshaft, deflection was eliminated so much that it made playing comical for me. So, with the Predator products, it was either too much of an absence of deflection, or losing the 'feel' I like with a traditional shaft.
The OB Classic seems to bridge that gap for me. Although not as 'crispy' as a tight grained traditional shaft, it still hits on the better side of dink as opposed to thud. And it feels as if I have a significant hunk of wood resting on my bridge hand. And, the deflection is noticably less while at the same time not reduced to the point of being ridiculous. It reduced deflection just enough to eliminate the guessing game while keeping things real.
