The NYC poolroom turf war

What's gonna happen next????

A mafia hit, management skullduggery uncovered between AZB'z own JudeR and Amsterdam's lethal Hunt Bros, page six notoriety, a 48hr segment two years from now, a tale of redemption penned and put to film by Scorcese. Maybe a "restroom paper towel" war for some spice.

The tension is building between the Amsterdam and Society gangs.

First, Amsterdam gang members branch off to form their own gang. They call it Society. Gang symbol still unknown. They form their gang on new Diamond Pro-ams. Amsterdam gang then gets new balls, racks, house cues and recovers tables in direct retaliation.

Next, the Society gang waves more league money around... to the tune of $10k. The Amsterdam gang responds with $20k.

What's gonna happen next????

Turf war for league and practice rooms. 2 of the premier poolrooms in NYC and zero action in either of em.

Jennifer B learned how to play pool in Broadway Billiards..
I do miss the fun of chilling all night in the poolrooms . Will ABC make the pockets smaller ? I was there the 2 tables by the door were nuts big as hell pockets . I got use to tight pockets .But there was one that was pretty good but the rails were dead ..
I love the old days in NYc
.. pool 24/7 action 24/7 ...

Maybe a diabolical scheme to switch a competitors shipment of chalk from Masters to Silver Cup. :D

My idea to promote the fall season league.

I'm posting this to the original league thread but I figure I'd post the news here first:

Society Billiards & Bar will be running a $5k freeroll prior to the start of the Fall season. All 9ball teams that are registered for the Fall by August 26 will automatically be entered into the event which will take place the weekend of August 28 & 29. This is a guaranteed amount and has no relation whatsoever to turn-out.

If you would like to register your team or if you have any questions, please email me at jude.rosenstock@societybilliards.com or you can call me at 212-420-1000.

Thanks,

I love how every year we have our annual tournament at Skyline someone is gonna come and hijack the dates.

Rob, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We never had any intention of double-booking the date. It's bad for business (yours and ours) but most importantly, it's bad for pool.

We're going to announce new dates for our $5k Freeroll in the next 24 hours. People who are interested in playing in this event should go to our website and submit their email address (http://societybilliards.com/contact/) or you can subscribe to this thread for updates.

From the beginning, our intention as a company was to be an asset to the New York City pool scene, nothing less than that.

Thank you guys. I know it was a mistunderstanding of dates. Most likey on my part. You show some class by changing dates. Hopefully I can show some support for you event. And I hope maybe the 2 rooms can do some type of events together in the future.

The turf war is building.

Society gang announces $5k free roll to the dismay of cross town rival gang, Skyline. Only to form an alliance shortly there after. The ball is in the Amsterdam gangs court for a $50k freeroll...

Amsterdam strikes again! $26,000 added ($15k for first place team)

gangs... I love em!

For anyone in the tri-state area who isn't in either league, they're going to miss out on $41K in prize money ($10K, 26K, & $5K freeroll).

I think I'll be in both... and I'll still miss out on $41k in prize money! hahaha

Both pool halls are great! I play in the Amsterdam Straight pool league as well. I think, if there is a rivarly, it is surely benefiting the everyday player. Amsterdam has a fantastic 'Power Play' rate of $15 (up to 4 players) and for 6 hours. Socitey also has a good 'Power Play' rate of $25 for 8 hours. They are both great. The owners at the new Socitey Billiards are super cool people as well. Well! if I had to choose one of the two, it will be Amsterdam. Love the Straight Pool league and its Director Danny Barouty. Ben the manager is great as well as is his staff (Steve and Damian). Oh! the Tables at Society are nothing short of 'awesome'. Just my 2 cents.
